HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Kenny Ryker, chief of
4police for the City of Litchfield, after an extraordinary
5career of over 23 years of dedicated service to Litchfield and
6the citizens of Illinois; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Chief Ryker began his journey in law enforcement
8after graduating from the Police Training Institute in
9Champaign in 2001; he first served as a Saluki patrolman while
10attending Southern Illinois University before later serving as
11an investigator with the South Central Illinois Drug Task
12Force; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Chief Ryker and his fellow members were
14responsible for the arrests of multiple drug traffickers and
15violent criminals while with the task force; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Chief Ryker and his team on the task force
17persevered and ultimately removed countless pounds of
18dangerous drugs off our streets, preventing hundreds of
19would-be addicts from going down that path, often while facing
20dangerous and life-threatening situations; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Chief Ryker later returned to patrol, where he

1spent years as a patrol sergeant, protecting his community
2through the night hours; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Chief Ryker's leadership and professionalism
4earned him a promotion to lieutenant, where he continued to
5excel before ultimately being entrusted with the role of chief
6of police; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Chief Ryker is the second generation in a
8three-generation law enforcement family, as the son of retired
9Clay County Sheriff and former ILETSB Investigator Lee Ryker,
10and his service has honored his family's respected name in the
11Illinois law enforcement community; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate Chief Ryker on his retirement, thank him for
15his years of service to his community and to the State of
16Illinois, and wish him, his wife and son, and his family the
17best in their future endeavors; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19delivered to Chief Ryker as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
