| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Kenny Ryker, chief of | ||||||
| 4 | police for the City of Litchfield, after an extraordinary | ||||||
| 5 | career of over 23 years of dedicated service to Litchfield and | ||||||
| 6 | the citizens of Illinois; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Chief Ryker began his journey in law enforcement | ||||||
| 8 | after graduating from the Police Training Institute in | ||||||
| 9 | Champaign in 2001; he first served as a Saluki patrolman while | ||||||
| 10 | attending Southern Illinois University before later serving as | ||||||
| 11 | an investigator with the South Central Illinois Drug Task | ||||||
| 12 | Force; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Chief Ryker and his fellow members were | ||||||
| 14 | responsible for the arrests of multiple drug traffickers and | ||||||
| 15 | violent criminals while with the task force; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Chief Ryker and his team on the task force | ||||||
| 17 | persevered and ultimately removed countless pounds of | ||||||
| 18 | dangerous drugs off our streets, preventing hundreds of | ||||||
| 19 | would-be addicts from going down that path, often while facing | ||||||
| 20 | dangerous and life-threatening situations; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Chief Ryker later returned to patrol, where he | ||||||

| 1 | spent years as a patrol sergeant, protecting his community | ||||||
| 2 | through the night hours; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Chief Ryker's leadership and professionalism | ||||||
| 4 | earned him a promotion to lieutenant, where he continued to | ||||||
| 5 | excel before ultimately being entrusted with the role of chief | ||||||
| 6 | of police; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Chief Ryker is the second generation in a | ||||||
| 8 | three-generation law enforcement family, as the son of retired | ||||||
| 9 | Clay County Sheriff and former ILETSB Investigator Lee Ryker, | ||||||
| 10 | and his service has honored his family's respected name in the | ||||||
| 11 | Illinois law enforcement community; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 13 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we congratulate Chief Ryker on his retirement, thank him for | ||||||
| 15 | his years of service to his community and to the State of | ||||||
| 16 | Illinois, and wish him, his wife and son, and his family the | ||||||
| 17 | best in their future endeavors; and be it further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | delivered to Chief Ryker as a symbol of our respect and esteem. | ||||||
