HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Rosa Thomas on the 
4occasion of her 100th birthday on December 1, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rosa Thomas was born in Providence, Rhode Island 
6on December 1, 1925; she moved to Maywood, Illinois in the 
7early 1950s; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Rosa Thomas married lifelong Maywood resident 
9Lawrence "Bud" Thomas, a well-known and beloved mailman in the 
10community; together, they raised five children, all proud 
11graduates of Proviso East High School; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rosa Thomas' family has continued to prosper, and 
13she is the proud grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of 
14seven, many of whom attended schools in the 7th District of 
15Illinois; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Rosa Thomas has been deeply involved in her 
17community, serving with the Maywood Charter VFW and the 
18American Legion Women's Auxiliary for many years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rosa Thomas is a devoted sports fan; she loves 
20the Chicago Bulls, the Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Bears,

1and she can often be found cheering for her beloved teams; in 
2earlier years, she was a fan of Michael Jordan and Walter 
3Payton, and she especially loved watching the 1985 Super Bowl; 
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rosa Thomas will celebrate this 100-year 
6milestone with a birthday celebration surrounded by family and 
7friends; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
9HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
10we congratulate Rosa Thomas on the occasion of her 100th 
11birthday; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to Rosa Thomas as an expression of our esteem and 
14respect.
