| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to commend the Quad County Urban League |
| 4 | | (QCUL) on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, QCUL, founded in 1975, serves DuPage, Kane, |
| 6 | | Kendall, and Will counties from its headquarters in Aurora, |
| 7 | | expanding equitable access to education, workforce |
| 8 | | opportunity, and civic participation across the region; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, QCUL has advanced social and economic equality by |
| 10 | | removing barriers to opportunity and empowering individuals |
| 11 | | and families through education, workforce development, and |
| 12 | | community engagement; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, As an affiliate of the National Urban League, |
| 14 | | QCUL has upheld a national standard of excellence while |
| 15 | | tailoring programs to local needs; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of President and CEO Theodia |
| 17 | | Gillespie, QCUL has provided transformative programs that |
| 18 | | uplift youth, strengthen families, and build stronger |
| 19 | | communities; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, QCUL's signature initiatives, including Nicor |

| 1 | | Career Academy, ComEd Academy, YouthBuild, the Illinois Works |
| 2 | | Pre-Apprenticeship Program, and Health Navigation/Get Covered |
| 3 | | Illinois, have delivered mentoring, academic support, |
| 4 | | industry-recognized training, and pathways to high-quality |
| 5 | | employment and apprenticeship; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, QCUL's partnerships with East Aurora School |
| 7 | | District 131, regional school districts, employers, and |
| 8 | | community organizations have expanded opportunities through |
| 9 | | site visits, credentialing, internships, and placement |
| 10 | | pipelines; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, QCUL's impact has been reflected in industry |
| 12 | | credentials earned, job placements obtained across |
| 13 | | construction, healthcare, logistics, and other sectors, |
| 14 | | assistance offered to small businesses, and comprehensive |
| 15 | | support provided to students; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, On October 25, 2025, QCUL celebrated 50 years of |
| 17 | | impact and unyielding strength at its Annual Equality Gala; |
| 18 | | therefore, be it |
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
