HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Graham
4Waller Jr., who passed away on October 18, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Graham Waller was born in Greensboro, Georgia to
6Graham Waller Sr. and Annie Sue Mae Jackson on July 6, 1924; he
7began working for the Knox Brothers Lumber Company at the age
8of 14; he graduated from Greensboro Colored High School in the
911th grade in 1941; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Graham Waller moved to Chicago in May 1944 and
11secured a job loading car boxes at R&R Donnelly; he then worked
12as a mail carrier for five years out of the Dearborn Station;
13after World War II, he started modeling, including appearing
14in Jet magazine; he also co-owned a gas station for two years;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Graham Waller became a truck driver for the
17Denver-Chicago Trucking Company in March 1961 and worked in
18various roles at the trucking company as a driver and trailer
19spotter for many decades; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Graham Waller married Evada McNary on February 4,
211962, and they settled in Calumet Heights in July 1977; he

1retired from the Transcon Trucking Company in 1987; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Graham Waller attended Kelly Methodist Church; he
3enjoyed listening to old standards and the WVON radio station
4and watching the 60 Minutes television program; his favorite
5pastime was telling stories, especially of his family's
6history, and he had an incredible memory for dates, events,
7addresses, and names; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Graham Waller was preceded in death by his
9parents; his sister, Annie Sue Berlack; and his brother, Alvin
10Clyde Waller; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Graham Waller is survived by his wife of 63
12years, Evada; his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Angela;
13his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Carl Meadows; his
14brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Kathleen; his
15grandson, Anthony Jr.; his granddaughter, Malina; his favorite
16cousin, Robert "Hughey" Jackson; his cousin, Alfred "Dewey"
17Jackson; and numerous relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we mourn the passing of Graham Waller Jr. and extend our
21sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
22and loved him; and be it further
