HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Brian Keith Leonard Sr.
4on the occasion of his retirement from Ameren Illinois; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Prior to his 45-year career in the utility
6industry, Brian Leonard attended East St. Louis Lincoln High
7School and received a Bachelor of Science in Math and Physical
8Education with a minor in Health Education from Eastern
9Illinois University in 1979; he later graduated from the
10Ameren Illinois Fellows Program in 2007 and the McKinsey Black
11Leadership Academy in 2020; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Brian Leonard began working as a meter
13reader-groundman for Central Illinois Public Service, known
14today as Ameren Illinois, in Charleston in 1980; since then,
15he has served the company in many roles, including as a gas
16meter repairman, a customer service representative in Mattoon,
17a superintendent in Shelbyville, and as a public affairs
18representative and lobbyist; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Brian Leonard was promoted to assistant regional
20manager of the Metro-East Region in Illinois, where he was
21responsible for day-to-day operations of electric and gas
22utility business; he later began serving as assistant manager

1of the Gateway Division in 2001, overseeing electric
2operations and energy delivery for St. Louis; he became
3director of Community Relations for Ameren Illinois in 2007,
4managing programs to strengthen relationships with business
5customers and communities; he proceeded to be selected to lead
6Ameren's Corporate Contributions and Community Initiative
7Department in 2009, focusing on customer satisfaction,
8nonprofit partnerships, and municipal engagement; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Brian Leonard was promoted to senior director of
10Government and Community Relations for Ameren Illinois in
112018, where he was responsible for managing relations with the
12Illinois General Assembly, constitutional officers, executive
13branch agencies, and staff, overseeing government relations,
14community relations, and philanthropic initiatives statewide,
15and directing efforts to translate company positions into
16supportive government policies, regulations, and statutes; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Brian Leonard currently serves on the board of
18the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation, and he has served on the
19boards of Quincy College and Heat Up St. Louis; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Brian Leonard is the husband of Monique Leonard
21and the father of Brian Jr., Natasha, and Jimmie "Jay" III;

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we congratulate Brian Keith Leonard Sr. on his retirement from
4Ameren Illinois, and we wish him continued success in his
5future endeavors; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to Brian Leonard as a symbol of our esteem and
8respect.
