| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Brian Keith Leonard Sr. |
| 4 | | on the occasion of his retirement from Ameren Illinois; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Prior to his 45-year career in the utility |
| 6 | | industry, Brian Leonard attended East St. Louis Lincoln High |
| 7 | | School and received a Bachelor of Science in Math and Physical |
| 8 | | Education with a minor in Health Education from Eastern |
| 9 | | Illinois University in 1979; he later graduated from the |
| 10 | | Ameren Illinois Fellows Program in 2007 and the McKinsey Black |
| 11 | | Leadership Academy in 2020; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Brian Leonard began working as a meter |
| 13 | | reader-groundman for Central Illinois Public Service, known |
| 14 | | today as Ameren Illinois, in Charleston in 1980; since then, |
| 15 | | he has served the company in many roles, including as a gas |
| 16 | | meter repairman, a customer service representative in Mattoon, |
| 17 | | a superintendent in Shelbyville, and as a public affairs |
| 18 | | representative and lobbyist; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Brian Leonard was promoted to assistant regional |
| 20 | | manager of the Metro-East Region in Illinois, where he was |
| 21 | | responsible for day-to-day operations of electric and gas |
| 22 | | utility business; he later began serving as assistant manager |

| 1 | | of the Gateway Division in 2001, overseeing electric |
| 2 | | operations and energy delivery for St. Louis; he became |
| 3 | | director of Community Relations for Ameren Illinois in 2007, |
| 4 | | managing programs to strengthen relationships with business |
| 5 | | customers and communities; he proceeded to be selected to lead |
| 6 | | Ameren's Corporate Contributions and Community Initiative |
| 7 | | Department in 2009, focusing on customer satisfaction, |
| 8 | | nonprofit partnerships, and municipal engagement; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Brian Leonard was promoted to senior director of |
| 10 | | Government and Community Relations for Ameren Illinois in |
| 11 | | 2018, where he was responsible for managing relations with the |
| 12 | | Illinois General Assembly, constitutional officers, executive |
| 13 | | branch agencies, and staff, overseeing government relations, |
| 14 | | community relations, and philanthropic initiatives statewide, |
| 15 | | and directing efforts to translate company positions into |
| 16 | | supportive government policies, regulations, and statutes; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Brian Leonard currently serves on the board of |
| 18 | | the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation, and he has served on the |
| 19 | | boards of Quincy College and Heat Up St. Louis; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Brian Leonard is the husband of Monique Leonard |
| 21 | | and the father of Brian Jr., Natasha, and Jimmie "Jay" III; |

| 2 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 3 | | we congratulate Brian Keith Leonard Sr. on his retirement from |
| 4 | | Ameren Illinois, and we wish him continued success in his |
| 5 | | future endeavors; and be it further |
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 7 | | presented to Brian Leonard as a symbol of our esteem and |
| 8 | | respect. |
