HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the University High School girls varsity volleyball team, the Pioneers, on winning the 2025 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Pioneers completed their championship season with a two-set victory over the Nazareth Academy girls varsity volleyball team, the Roadrunners, at CEFCU Arena in Normal on November 15, 2025, marking the school's first championship since 2000; and

WHEREAS, The Pioneers won each of their final 30 matches of the season to finish the year with a 38-4 record, including wins over nearby teams such as Central Catholic High School, Normal Community West High School, Bloomington High School, and Tri-Valley High School; and

WHEREAS, The Pioneers' championship win reflects a season dedicated to hard work, grit, and resilience, and their success was celebrated with a ceremony held at University High School in Normal on November 21, 2025; and

WHEREAS, The Pioneers are led by Head Coach Ratasha Thompson, who was completing her first year as head coach after serving in an interim role last season; and

WHEREAS, The members of the 2025 Pioneers include Ava Crabtree, Addison Donahue, Emma Eloiza, Madison Funk, Emily Gross, Nina Harden, Avery Holzbauer, Kaitlyn Kline, Emma Jean Lehnen, Kyndel Nelson, Taylor Penn, Morgan Petelin, Laney Snow, Kylie Stanton, and Alyssa Wolf; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the University High School girls varsity volleyball team, the Pioneers, on winning the 2025 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A State Championship, and we wish the team continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Head Coach Ratasha Thompson as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
