HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the University High
4School girls varsity volleyball team, the Pioneers, on winning
5the 2025 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A
6State Championship; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Pioneers completed their championship season
8with a two-set victory over the Nazareth Academy girls varsity
9volleyball team, the Roadrunners, at CEFCU Arena in Normal on
10November 15, 2025, marking the school's first championship
11since 2000; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The Pioneers won each of their final 30 matches
13of the season to finish the year with a 38-4 record, including
14wins over nearby teams such as Central Catholic High School,
15Normal Community West High School, Bloomington High School,
16and Tri-Valley High School; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Pioneers' championship win reflects a season
18dedicated to hard work, grit, and resilience, and their
19success was celebrated with a ceremony held at University High
20School in Normal on November 21, 2025; and
 
21    WHEREAS, The Pioneers are led by Head Coach Ratasha

1Thompson, who was completing her first year as head coach
2after serving in an interim role last season; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The members of the 2025 Pioneers include Ava
4Crabtree, Addison Donahue, Emma Eloiza, Madison Funk, Emily
5Gross, Nina Harden, Avery Holzbauer, Kaitlyn Kline, Emma Jean
6Lehnen, Kyndel Nelson, Taylor Penn, Morgan Petelin, Laney
7Snow, Kylie Stanton, and Alyssa Wolf; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate the University High School girls varsity
11volleyball team, the Pioneers, on winning the 2025 Illinois
12High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A State Championship,
13and we wish the team continued success; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Head Coach Ratasha Thompson as a symbol of our
16respect and esteem.
