HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jimmie
4Ray "Jabo" Goggins of Somerset, Kentucky, who passed away on
5November 2, 2025; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins was born to Dorothy E. Goggins on
7November 25, 1945; he attended the Bourbon School and then
8Ferguson High School, where he completed the eleventh grade;
9he enlisted in the United States Army in 1967, from which he
10was honorably discharged; he married Mary Holts Goggins in
11Somerset, Kentucky on November 25, 1978; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins was employed by Magna Graphic in
13Lexington, Kentucky until 1979; he moved to Somerset, Kentucky
14in 1979, where he was worked as a steelman at the Somerset
15Refinery until February 2010; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins was a member of Mt. Olive
17Missionary Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a deacon
18on November 18, 2001; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins enjoyed playing pool, horse shoes,
20and golf, horseback riding, completing yard work, and watching
21sports; and

1    WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins was preceded in death by his
2mother; his brothers, Joe Arnold and George Green; one niece;
3and one nephew; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins is survived by his wife of 47
5years, Mary; his children, Kendra Carter and Keith (Staci)
6Goggins; three grandchildren; one special granddaughter; his
7nephew, who was raised as his son, and his family; one
8great-grandson; his siblings, Richard Alexander, Carol Green,
9and Ricky (Amy) Goggins; his special family friend, Joe
10McKinley; and a host of nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we mourn the passing of Jimmie Ray "Jabo" Goggins and extend
14our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
15knew and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Jimmie Goggins as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
