HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend Dr. Ruby E. Roberson Ed.D. for
4her extraordinary career as an educator and her profound,
5sustained, and impactful work with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
6Incorporated; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson has demonstrated a notable and
8decades-long commitment to education and community service,
9distinguishing herself as a well-respected leader in the State
10of Illinois; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson's exceptional career in education
12spanned over thirty years, during which she served as a
13dedicated Head Start Director, an elementary school classroom
14teacher, a reading specialist, an assistant principal, a
15principal, and a district superintendent, serving Chicago
16Public Schools and Dolton West School District 148; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson's passion for learning and
18dedication to academic excellence is evidenced by her
19extensive educational achievements, including a Bachelor of
20Arts from Western Illinois University, a Master of Early
21Childhood Education from the Erikson Institute, a Master of
22Educational Leadership from Governors State University, and a

1Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from
2Loyola University of Chicago; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson is a devoted member of Alpha Kappa
4Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, having been initiated into the
5Gamma Psi Chapter at Texas Southern University on December 13,
61969; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson, upon transferring to Western
8Illinois University in Macomb and finding no active chapter,
9undertook the ambitious mission of expanding the sorority's
10footprint, culminating in her becoming a charter member of the
11Zeta Iota Chapter on February 20, 1971; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson has continued her exemplary service
13through the Lambda Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha
14Sorority, Incorporated, joining in 2011 and serving in
15numerous vital roles, including as December Luncheon Chairman,
16Cotillion Chairman, Chapter Newsletter Editor, and Chapter
17Historian; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson's dedication and leadership were
19further recognized when she graciously served as the 22nd
20president of the Lambda Tau Omega Chapter; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson's outstanding contributions to the

1chapter and the community have been consistently acknowledged
2by her peers, who honored her as Silver Soror of the Year
3(2017), Soror of the Year (2018), and Golden Soror of the Year
4(2019); therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we commend Dr. Ruby E. Roberson Ed.D. for her extraordinary
8career as an educator and her profound, sustained, and
9impactful work with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated;
10and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Dr. Roberson as a token of our respect and esteem.
