| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to commend Dr. Ruby E. Roberson Ed.D. for | ||||||
| 4 | her extraordinary career as an educator and her profound, | ||||||
| 5 | sustained, and impactful work with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, | ||||||
| 6 | Incorporated; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson has demonstrated a notable and | ||||||
| 8 | decades-long commitment to education and community service, | ||||||
| 9 | distinguishing herself as a well-respected leader in the State | ||||||
| 10 | of Illinois; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson's exceptional career in education | ||||||
| 12 | spanned over thirty years, during which she served as a | ||||||
| 13 | dedicated Head Start Director, an elementary school classroom | ||||||
| 14 | teacher, a reading specialist, an assistant principal, a | ||||||
| 15 | principal, and a district superintendent, serving Chicago | ||||||
| 16 | Public Schools and Dolton West School District 148; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson's passion for learning and | ||||||
| 18 | dedication to academic excellence is evidenced by her | ||||||
| 19 | extensive educational achievements, including a Bachelor of | ||||||
| 20 | Arts from Western Illinois University, a Master of Early | ||||||
| 21 | Childhood Education from the Erikson Institute, a Master of | ||||||
| 22 | Educational Leadership from Governors State University, and a | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from | ||||||
| 2 | Loyola University of Chicago; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson is a devoted member of Alpha Kappa | ||||||
| 4 | Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, having been initiated into the | ||||||
| 5 | Gamma Psi Chapter at Texas Southern University on December 13, | ||||||
| 6 | 1969; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson, upon transferring to Western | ||||||
| 8 | Illinois University in Macomb and finding no active chapter, | ||||||
| 9 | undertook the ambitious mission of expanding the sorority's | ||||||
| 10 | footprint, culminating in her becoming a charter member of the | ||||||
| 11 | Zeta Iota Chapter on February 20, 1971; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson has continued her exemplary service | ||||||
| 13 | through the Lambda Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha | ||||||
| 14 | Sorority, Incorporated, joining in 2011 and serving in | ||||||
| 15 | numerous vital roles, including as December Luncheon Chairman, | ||||||
| 16 | Cotillion Chairman, Chapter Newsletter Editor, and Chapter | ||||||
| 17 | Historian; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson's dedication and leadership were | ||||||
| 19 | further recognized when she graciously served as the 22nd | ||||||
| 20 | president of the Lambda Tau Omega Chapter; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Dr. Roberson's outstanding contributions to the | ||||||

| 1 | chapter and the community have been consistently acknowledged | ||||||
| 2 | by her peers, who honored her as Silver Soror of the Year | ||||||
| 3 | (2017), Soror of the Year (2018), and Golden Soror of the Year | ||||||
| 4 | (2019); therefore, be it | ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 6 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 7 | we commend Dr. Ruby E. Roberson Ed.D. for her extraordinary | ||||||
| 8 | career as an educator and her profound, sustained, and | ||||||
| 9 | impactful work with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; | ||||||
| 10 | and be it further | ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 12 | presented to Dr. Roberson as a token of our respect and esteem. | ||||||
