| 6 | | WHEREAS, This unique dance form, known for its fast-paced, |
| 7 | | intricate foot movement and improvisational style, has grown |
| 8 | | into a global artistic movement while remaining deeply |
| 9 | | connected to its roots in the communities of Illinois; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Footwork has served as a powerful platform for |
| 11 | | creative expression, youth empowerment, and community unity, |
| 12 | | offering an outlet that fosters discipline, self-confidence, |
| 13 | | and positive identity among young people; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, For decades, footwork artists, musicians, and |
| 15 | | educators across the State have contributed to its |
| 16 | | preservation and growth through mentorship, workshops, |
| 17 | | performances, and international collaborations; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The initiative to officially recognize and |
| 19 | | celebrate this cultural legacy through Footwork Appreciation |
| 20 | | Month is being led by the Creative Netwerk, the website |
