HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kristen
4Pierce-Sherrod, chief executive officer (CEO) of Harold's
5Chicken and co-founder of the Chicago Children Equestrian
6Center; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Kristen Pierce-Sherrod, the daughter of Harold's
8Chicken founders Harold and Hilda Pierce, was raised in
9Beaverville; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Kristen Pierce-Sherrod continued her parents'
11legacy, becoming CEO of Harold's Chicken in 2000; during her
12more than 20 years at the helm, she was credited for retaining
13the business's close ties to Chicago's culture and identity,
14maintaining the brand's reputation as a Chicago staple, while
15expanding the regional brand into a national chain of
16restaurants located across eight states; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Kristen Pierce-Sherrod and her husband, Vincent
18Sherrod, co-founded the non-profit Chicago Children Equestrian
19Center in 2021, providing underserved and vulnerable youth
20with the opportunity to learn horsemanship as well as lessons
21of self-love and responsibility through equine therapy; and

1    WHEREAS, Kristen Pierce-Sherrod was a phenomenal business
2woman who will be remembered for her prolific impact on
3Harold's Chicken, the City of Chicago, and the State of
4Illinois; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we mourn the passing of Kristen Pierce-Sherrod, chief
8executive officer (CEO) of Harold's Chicken and co-founder of
9the Chicago Children Equestrian Center, and extend our sincere
10condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
11her; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Kristen Pierce-Sherrod as an
14expression of our deepest sympathy.
