| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Leman Farms Inc. on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of being named the 2026 Family of the Year by the | ||||||
| 5 | Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA); and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Each year, the IPPA honors a family-owned pork | ||||||
| 7 | producer who has contributed to the long-term success of the | ||||||
| 8 | industry through leadership and pork promotion on the local, | ||||||
| 9 | state, and national level; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Leman Farms Inc. is a third-generation, | ||||||
| 11 | family-owned agricultural enterprise located near Eureka that | ||||||
| 12 | remains deeply rooted in diversified crop and livestock | ||||||
| 13 | production, including raising corn, soybeans, seed beans, and | ||||||
| 14 | producing high-quality pork for regional and national markets; | ||||||
| 15 | and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Leman Farms Inc. was established when Vernon | ||||||
| 17 | Leman started farming the main homestead in 1948, laying the | ||||||
| 18 | groundwork for future generations by cultivating crops and | ||||||
| 19 | raising a mix of livestock; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Leman Farms Inc., under the second-generation | ||||||
| 21 | leadership of Keith Leman and his wife, Dorothy, eventually | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | transitioned from a multispecies farmstead to a swine-only | ||||||
| 2 | enterprise; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Leman Farms Inc. is currently led by | ||||||
| 4 | third-generation owner Chad Leman, who serves as head of | ||||||
| 5 | operations and president; under his leadership, the family's | ||||||
| 6 | enterprise has evolved from traditional row crops and a small | ||||||
| 7 | farrow-to-finish operation to a fully diversified farm that | ||||||
| 8 | markets approximately 120,000 hogs annually alongside its corn | ||||||
| 9 | and soybean production; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Leman Farms Inc's daily routine is made possible | ||||||
| 11 | through the work of Chad Leman's wife, Staci, who has been | ||||||
| 12 | instrumental as treasurer and bookkeeper, overseeing all | ||||||
| 13 | recordkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, and the | ||||||
| 14 | employee payroll; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Leman Farms Inc.'s employees are the heart of the | ||||||
| 16 | operation, with several having worked at Leman Farms between | ||||||
| 17 | 15 and 30 years, making it possible to have measured growth | ||||||
| 18 | without sacrificing performance and productivity; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Leman Farms Inc. has also been successful in part | ||||||
| 20 | due to the contract growers that work alongside the Leman team | ||||||
| 21 | for providing daily care of the pigs and maintenance of their | ||||||
| 22 | barns while utilizing the manure on their own crop acres; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Leman Farms Inc. continues to operate while | ||||||
| 2 | emphasizing generational land stewardship, efficient | ||||||
| 3 | production practices, and investment in both people and | ||||||
| 4 | infrastructure to support long-term growth and food-secure | ||||||
| 5 | rural communities; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 7 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 8 | we congratulate Leman Farms Inc. on being selected as the 2026 | ||||||
| 9 | Family of the Year by the Illinois Pork Producers Association | ||||||
| 10 | (IPPA), and we thank the Leman family and staff of Leman Farms | ||||||
| 11 | for their continued hard work and dedication to the pork | ||||||
| 12 | industry; and be it further | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to Leman Farms Inc. as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
| 15 | respect. | ||||||
