HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Michael
4Matthew "Mike" Dillon of Braidwood, who passed away on
5November 1, 2025; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mike Dillon was born in Joliet to Peter and Alice
7(Hilton) Dillon on November 6, 1949; during the Vietnam era,
8he served in the United States Army at Fort Huachuca, Arizona
9from 1970 to 1971; he married Dawn Downey at Immaculate
10Conception Catholic Church in Braidwood on November 6, 1971;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mike Dillon began his fire service career at 18
13years old with the Braidwood Fire Department, where he served
14as a firefighter, EMT, and training officer; he became a
15trustee for the department in 1973 and was serving as trustee
16president at the time of his passing; he worked for ComEd for
1734 years in a variety of roles, eventually becoming fire
18marshal at the Dresden Plant before his retirement; he was
19elected to the board of directors of the Illinois Association
20of Fire Protection Districts in 1998 and served as its
21president from 2005 to 2025; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Mike Dillon was a member of the OSFM Fire

1Advisory Commission, the Illinois Fire Service Institute
2Advisory, and the Statewide Interoperability Communications
3Executive Committee; he also served as vice chairman of the
4Illinois Fire Services Association; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mike Dillon enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a
6loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears; he and his wife were
7lifelong members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mike Dillon was preceded in death by his parents
9and his nephew, Daniel Dillon; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mike Dillon is survived by his beloved wife of 54
11years, Dawn, and his siblings, Kathy Dillon, Dan (Charita)
12Dillon, Patrick Dillon, and Jennifer Brown; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn the passing of Michael Matthew "Mike" Dillon and
16extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
17who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Mike Dillon as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
