| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Michael | ||||||
| 4 | Matthew "Mike" Dillon of Braidwood, who passed away on | ||||||
| 5 | November 1, 2025; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Mike Dillon was born in Joliet to Peter and Alice | ||||||
| 7 | (Hilton) Dillon on November 6, 1949; during the Vietnam era, | ||||||
| 8 | he served in the United States Army at Fort Huachuca, Arizona | ||||||
| 9 | from 1970 to 1971; he married Dawn Downey at Immaculate | ||||||
| 10 | Conception Catholic Church in Braidwood on November 6, 1971; | ||||||
| 11 | and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Mike Dillon began his fire service career at 18 | ||||||
| 13 | years old with the Braidwood Fire Department, where he served | ||||||
| 14 | as a firefighter, EMT, and training officer; he became a | ||||||
| 15 | trustee for the department in 1973 and was serving as trustee | ||||||
| 16 | president at the time of his passing; he worked for ComEd for | ||||||
| 17 | 34 years in a variety of roles, eventually becoming fire | ||||||
| 18 | marshal at the Dresden Plant before his retirement; he was | ||||||
| 19 | elected to the board of directors of the Illinois Association | ||||||
| 20 | of Fire Protection Districts in 1998 and served as its | ||||||
| 21 | president from 2005 to 2025; and | ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Mike Dillon was a member of the OSFM Fire | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Advisory Commission, the Illinois Fire Service Institute | ||||||
| 2 | Advisory, and the Statewide Interoperability Communications | ||||||
| 3 | Executive Committee; he also served as vice chairman of the | ||||||
| 4 | Illinois Fire Services Association; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Mike Dillon enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a | ||||||
| 6 | loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears; he and his wife were | ||||||
| 7 | lifelong members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Mike Dillon was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
| 9 | and his nephew, Daniel Dillon; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Mike Dillon is survived by his beloved wife of 54 | ||||||
| 11 | years, Dawn, and his siblings, Kathy Dillon, Dan (Charita) | ||||||
| 12 | Dillon, Patrick Dillon, and Jennifer Brown; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 14 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we mourn the passing of Michael Matthew "Mike" Dillon and | ||||||
| 16 | extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all | ||||||
| 17 | who knew and loved him; and be it further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Mike Dillon as an expression of our | ||||||
| 20 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
