HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize the extraordinary service
4and sacrifice of Illinois' first responders and the
5organizations that steadfastly support them and their
6families; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The 100 Club of Illinois was founded on August
827, 1966 and has served as a vital resource for first
9responders and their families throughout the State of Illinois
10for 60 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The mission of the 100 Club of Illinois is to
12provide resources, multiple forms of financial assistance,
13access to training, and moral support to the families of first
14responders who are killed in the line of duty, as well as to
15actively serving first responders across Illinois; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The 100 Club of Illinois serves all sworn
17federal, state, county, and local first responders stationed
18in Illinois, ensuring that those who protect our communities
19have access to support regardless of jurisdiction; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The 100 Club of Illinois is also the largest
21provider of mental health training for first responders in the

1State of Illinois, helping to strengthen resilience, wellness,
2and preparedness among those who routinely face trauma in the
3course of their duties; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Since its inception, the 100 Club of Illinois has
5provided benefits to 330 families of fallen public safety
6professionals, with total assistance exceeding $17 million in
7financial and emotional support; and
 
8    WHEREAS, First responders place themselves in harm's way
9every day to protect the safety, health, and well-being of the
10people of Illinois, and many have made the ultimate sacrifice
11in service to their communities; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The bravery and sacrifice of fallen first
13responders should never be forgotten, and the public should
14honor those who serve and the families they leave behind; and
 
15    WHEREAS, August 27 holds special significance as the
16founding date of the 100 Club of Illinois and marks six decades
17of unwavering commitment to honoring fallen first responders
18and supporting their families; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
20HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21we declare August 27, 2026 as Hero Day in Illinois to recognize

1the bravery, dedication, and sacrifices of the first
2responders who gave their lives in the line of duty and to
3honor and support the families that they leave behind; and be
4it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That Hero Day in Illinois shall serve as a
6reminder to never forget the heroes we have lost, to express
7gratitude to those who continue to serve, and to reaffirm our
8commitment to supporting first responder families and the
9organizations that stand beside them; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That we commend the 100 Club of Illinois on the
11occasion of its 60th anniversary and recognize its
12extraordinary contributions to first responders and their
13families across the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the 100 Club of Illinois as an expression of
16respect, appreciation, and enduring gratitude.
