HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Leo Geerts on the 
4occasion of his retirement as chief of the Albany Fire 
5Protection District; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Geerts joined the Albany Volunteer Fire 
7Department in April 1979 and began serving as a firefighter in 
8August 1979; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Chief Geerts was a charter member of Albany Fire 
10Protection District 1981-1982 and served as its secretary and 
11treasurer from 1983-1984; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Chief Geerts became fire district training 
13officer/captain in 1984 and was promoted to assistant chief of 
14Albany Fire Protection District in 1990; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Chief Geerts became the Albany Fire Protection 
16District Chief in 1994; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Chief Geerts was also vice-president of the 
18Illinois Firefighters Association and president of the 
19Ambulance Association in 1988; and

1    WHEREAS, Chief Geerts, throughout his years of service, 
2was instrumental in modernizing the Albany Fire Protection 
3District in equipment and technique, creating a fire 
4protection district that is well-positioned to continue 
5serving its citizens well into the future; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
7HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we congratulate Leo Geerts on his retirement as chief of the 
9Albany Fire Protection District, and we wish him the best in 
10all his future endeavours; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Chief Geerts as a symbol of our respect and 
13esteem.
