HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Bob Sehring on the
4occasion of his retirement as chief executive officer of OSF
5HealthCare in April 2026; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bob Sehring, who earned a Bachelor of Business
7Administration in public accounting from Hofstra University in
8Uniondale, New York, held various executive positions with
9Aetna, New York Life, and Metropolitan Life Insurance prior to
10joining OSF Healthcare; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bob Sehring joined OSF HealthCare as vice
12president for Business Support Services for OSF HealthPlans,
13Inc. in 2002, and he was promoted to chief executive officer of
14that organization in 2004; he proceeded to be appointed chief
15officer of Ministry Services in 2013, which he followed by
16being named chief executive officer of the Central Region for
17OSF HealthCare in 2015, ultimately becoming chief executive
18officer of the organization in October 2017; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Under Bob Sehring's leadership, OSF HealthCare
20grew to a 16-hospital health system and restructured to an
21integrated delivery system for the communities it serves, and
22that growth included extending its reach and services into the

1metro Chicago market and creating a digital health operating
2unit branded OSF OnCall, which delivers seamless navigation to
3the care and services of patients; he further oversaw the
4establishment of a robust oncology service line, including the
5construction of the OSF Cancer Institute in Peoria, which
6opened in early 2024 and provides proton beam therapy,
7becoming only the second center of its kind in the State; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bob Sehring has championed innovation not only in
9health care but also in economic and community development,
10serving as board chair of Distillery Labs, where he played a
11pivotal leadership role in advancing entrepreneurship in the
12City of Peoria by supporting startups, fostering innovation,
13and helping position Peoria as a growing hub for technology,
14business development, and talent attraction; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bob Sehring's service has strengthened the
16economic vitality of Peoria through job creation, workforce
17development, community investment, and sustained collaboration
18across the public and private sector; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bob Sehring has delivered the resurgence of
20Downtown Peoria through his leadership in developing the OSF
21HealthCare Ministry Headquarters, which saved a 1905
22department store building from demolition and, as one of the
23largest historic renovation projects in State history,

1transformed the location into a thriving hub for Peoria's
2largest employer; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Over the course of Bob Sehring's tenure, OSF
4HealthCare has achieved remarkable milestones, including
5attaining strategic growth through mergers and acquisitions,
6serving many communities with hospitals and healthcare
7facilities, providing care for more than 1 million patients
8per year, demonstrating strong leadership through the pandemic
9and the post impacts it had on the healthcare industry, and
10maintaining an unwavering commitment to rural health care; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Through Bob Sehring's work and guidance, OSF
12Healthcare has flourished, ensuring the health system remains
13a leader in exceeding expectations of its patients and
14advances in clinical excellence; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we congratulate Bob Sehring on his retirement as chief
18executive officer of OSF HealthCare, and we thank him for his
19years of service and dedication to the organization; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to Bob Sehring as an expression of our esteem and
