| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of William |
| 4 | | D. "Bill" Marass of Springfield, who passed away on February |
| 5 | | 9, 2026; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Bill Marass, the son of William A. and Ellen Jane |
| 7 | | (Kells) Marass, was born in Elgin on April 18, 1952; he served |
| 8 | | in the United States Marine Corps; he received his bachelor's |
| 9 | | degree in law enforcement from Western Illinois University; he |
| 10 | | married Kelly Fountain; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bill Marass dedicated his career to public |
| 12 | | service, serving as a police officer for the Village of |
| 13 | | Rochester from October 15, 1981 through October 31, 2016; |
| 14 | | during his tenure, he held the position of police chief from |
| 15 | | February 10, 1997 until his retirement; he also furthered his |
| 16 | | professional accomplishments by graduating from the FBI |
| 17 | | Academy, Session 215, in 2002; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Bill Marass cherished spending time with his |
| 19 | | family, especially his grandchildren; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Bill Marass was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 21 | | his sister, Pamela Pearson; and his father-in-law, Larry |
