HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of William
4D. "Bill" Marass of Springfield, who passed away on February
59, 2026; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bill Marass, the son of William A. and Ellen Jane
7(Kells) Marass, was born in Elgin on April 18, 1952; he served
8in the United States Marine Corps; he received his bachelor's
9degree in law enforcement from Western Illinois University; he
10married Kelly Fountain; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bill Marass dedicated his career to public
12service, serving as a police officer for the Village of
13Rochester from October 15, 1981 through October 31, 2016;
14during his tenure, he held the position of police chief from
15February 10, 1997 until his retirement; he also furthered his
16professional accomplishments by graduating from the FBI
17Academy, Session 215, in 2002; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bill Marass cherished spending time with his
19family, especially his grandchildren; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bill Marass was preceded in death by his parents;
21his sister, Pamela Pearson; and his father-in-law, Larry

1Fountain; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Bill Marass is survived by his wife of 42 years,
3Kelly; his children, Andrea Marass, Matthew (Tiffani) Marass,
4and Kimberly Marass; five grandchildren; his siblings, Michael
5(Carlos Torres) Marass and Kathleen (Carlos) Acevedo; his
6brother-in-law, Loring Pearson; his mother-in-law, Cindy
7Fountain; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family
8members; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of William D. "Bill" Marass and extend our
12sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
13and loved him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Bill Marass as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
