HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Springfield Park
4District as it celebrates its 125th anniversary, marking more
5than a century of dedicated service to the residents of
6Springfield and the State of Illinois; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District was established on
8February 8, 1900, demonstrating an early commitment by the
9community to preserving green spaces and providing
10recreational opportunities for its citizens; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District, over the past 125
12years, has grown to encompass numerous parks, facilities, and
13recreational programs that enhance the quality of life for
14thousands of residents and visitors; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District maintains and
16operates parks, playgrounds, a swimming pool, a zoo, a
17carillon, recreation centers, golf courses, and nature areas
18that serve people of all ages and abilities; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District boasts dedicated
20trustees, staff, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to
21preserve natural resources, promote healthy lifestyles, and

1create gathering spaces that strengthen community bonds; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District has played a vital
3role in preserving local history, protecting the environment,
4and providing affordable recreational opportunities that
5contribute to the physical, mental, and social well-being of
6its citizens; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District remains steadfast
8in its mission to serve the public good through economic
9challenges, changing demographics, and evolving community
10needs and to continue serving future generations with the same
11dedication and excellence as it has; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate the Springfield Park District as it celebrates
15its 125th anniversary, marking more than a century of
16dedicated service to the residents of Springfield and the
17State of Illinois; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the president of the Springfield Park District as
20a symbol of our respect and esteem.
