HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Kingsley Junior High 
4School's (Normal) eighth grade girls basketball team, the 
5Cougars, on winning the 2025 Illinois Elementary School 
6Association (IESA) Class 4A State Championship; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Cougars compiled a final record of 29 wins 
8and zero losses during the 2025 season, which culminated in a 
9championship after defeating Glenwood Elementary School 
10(Chatham), South Middle School (Arlington Heights), and 
11Herrick Middle School (Downers Grove) in the IESA's eighth 
12grade Class 4A state tournament; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The Cougars were led by Head Coach Roger 
14Nalewajka, assistant coaches Steve Wood, Megan Williams, and 
15Mackenzie Coates, manager Carelle Yetimbi, and featured a 
16roster of Maizie Olson, Nilah Robinson, Lavaysia Washington, 
17Vivian Reeves, Alexandria West, Easton Carter, Vivian Wood, 
18Olivia Carolan, McKinnley Ross, Amelia Nalewajka, Jasmine 
19Spiller, Aliyah Khokhar, and Isabel Forsberg; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The Cougars are a remarkable group of players, 
21having been together as state champions in the sixth and 
22seventh grades and achieving a record of 86 wins and zero

1losses over their three seasons together from sixth to eighth 
2grade; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The Cougars' hard work, dedication, and 
4commitment to excellence are a reflection of themselves, their 
5families, their school, and their community; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
7HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we wish to congratulate Kingsley Junior High School's (Normal) 
9eighth grade girls basketball team, the Cougars, on winning 
10the 2025 Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Class 
114A State Championship; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
13presented to the Cougars' coaches and players as a symbol of 
14our respect and esteem.
