| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the teachers, educators, |
| 4 | | students, and parents of Ebinger Elementary School on its |
| 5 | | 100th anniversary; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, In 1926, the Ebinger Elementary School opened to |
| 7 | | serve young people in the Edison Park neighborhood of Chicago; |
| 8 | | and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Within the Chicago Public School System, Ebinger |
| 10 | | Elementary School has been a neighborhood school throughout |
| 11 | | its existence; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, In addition to its neighborhood responsibilities |
| 13 | | to local students and their families, Ebinger Elementary |
| 14 | | School is also designated as the home of a Fine and Performing |
| 15 | | Arts Magnet Cluster Program; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Ebinger Elementary School's teachers and |
| 17 | | personnel have faced many challenges over the years, beginning |
| 18 | | with the "scrip pay crisis" of 1932-1933 when the Great |
| 19 | | Depression made it difficult for Chicago schoolteachers to be |
| 20 | | paid by paychecks or in cash; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The Ebinger Elementary School's community |
| 2 | | remembers one of its key leaders, Frances Pietch, a lifelong |
| 3 | | educator who served as its principal for 19 years from 1969 |
| 4 | | until 1988; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Under Principal Michelle Nash and Assistant |
| 6 | | Principal Kelly Heinecke, Ebinger Elementary School has |
| 7 | | continued its record of excellence within the Chicago Public |
| 8 | | School System; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The published mission statement of Ebinger |
| 10 | | Elementary School states that "All students graduating from |
| 11 | | Ebinger will have a clear understanding of their own strengths |
| 12 | | and passions for learning"; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ebinger Elementary School is proudly represented |
| 14 | | by its mascot "The Eagles"; therefore, be it
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 16 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 17 | | we congratulate the teachers, educators, students, and parents |
| 18 | | of Ebinger Elementary School on its 100th anniversary and join |
| 19 | | them in looking forward to the next 100 years; and be it |
| 20 | | further
