HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Treatment Alternatives
4for Stronger Communities (TASC) on the occasion of its 50th
5anniversary; and
 
6    WHEREAS, TASC is an Illinois-based nonprofit organization
7founded in 1976 to reduce justice involvement and its
8consequences by providing coordinated, evidence-based services
9to individuals with behavioral health and social service
10needs; and
 
11    WHEREAS, TASC operates at the intersection of health and
12the criminal legal system and is a valued and trusted partner
13to both systems, delivering interventions that promote
14recovery, reduce recidivism, strengthen families, and enhance
15public safety; and
 
16    WHEREAS, TASC is licensed as a Designated Program under
17Illinois statute and administrative rule, authorizing it to
18conduct court-approved assessments, referrals, case
19management, monitoring, and service coordination, in
20compliance with state standards governing professional
21practice, accountability, data reporting, and quality
22assurance; and

1    WHEREAS, TASC provides a continuum of services, including
2criminal justice diversion, drug and specialty court support,
3reentry and community supervision services, substance use
4disorder treatment coordination, family and youth intervention
5programs, Specialized Case Management™, substance use disorder
6treatment, and housing stabilization and supportive housing
7navigation; and
 
8    WHEREAS, TASC has expanded its service delivery through
9deflection, which redirects individuals away from arrest and
10deeper system involvement by connecting them to treatment,
11behavioral health services, housing resources, and
12community-based supports at the earliest point of law
13enforcement contact; and
 
14    WHEREAS, TASC, through its Center for Health and Justice,
15provides state, national, and international leadership in
16research, policy development, training, and technical
17assistance, translating evidence into effective justice and
18health system practices; and
 
19    WHEREAS, TASC addresses key social drivers of health,
20including poverty, trauma, housing instability, and access to
21care, through individualized and system-level strategies that
22improve long-term outcomes for participants and communities;

2    WHEREAS, The impact of TASC is made possible by its
3dedicated staff, whose professionalism, expertise, and
4commitment to service support thousands of individuals each
5year in achieving recovery, stability, and successful
6community reintegration; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we congratulate Treatment Alternatives for Stronger
10Communities (TASC) on its 50th anniversary, thank TASC for its
11significant contributions to justice reform, public health,
12and community well-being in Illinois, and wish the
13organization continued success in advancing effective,
14accountable, and compassionate alternatives to incarceration;
15and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Treatment Alternatives for Stronger Communities
18as an expression of our esteem and respect.
