| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Matt Tumbleson on his |
| 4 | | professional accomplishments and exceptional leadership in the |
| 5 | | National Basketball Association; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Matt Tumbleson was raised in the Village of Buda |
| 7 | | in Bureau County, where he learned the values of hard work, |
| 8 | | humility, and community that have guided him throughout his |
| 9 | | life and career; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Matt Tumbleson attended Bureau Valley High |
| 11 | | School, where he distinguished himself as a student and |
| 12 | | emerging leader and his early interest in athletics and |
| 13 | | communications began to develop; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Matt Tumbleson attended Illinois State |
| 15 | | University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations |
| 16 | | and Political Science and gaining hands-on experience through |
| 17 | | student media organizations that prepared him for a career in |
| 18 | | professional sports communications; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Following his graduation, Matt Tumbleson embarked |
| 20 | | on a distinguished career in the National Basketball |
| 21 | | Association (NBA), holding communications and media relations |

| 1 | | positions with the San Antonio Spurs, New Jersey Nets, and |
| 2 | | Memphis Grizzlies, where he earned respect for his |
| 3 | | professionalism and strategic insight; and |
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Matt Tumbleson joined the Oklahoma City Thunder |
| 5 | | in 2011, where he rose to the position of Vice President of |
| 6 | | Basketball Communications, overseeing media relations, public |
| 7 | | engagement, and organizational storytelling for one of the |
| 8 | | NBA's most respected franchises; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Matt Tumbleson played a pivotal role in the |
| 10 | | public relations and communications efforts surrounding the |
| 11 | | 2024-2025 NBA season, including the successful campaign that |
| 12 | | culminated in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander being named the NBA Most |
| 13 | | Valuable Player in 2025, highlighting Matt's leadership and |
| 14 | | expertise at the highest level of professional sports; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Matt Tumbleson has remained deeply committed to |
| 16 | | giving back to Illinois, maintaining strong ties to Bureau |
| 17 | | Valley High School and Illinois State University, where he |
| 18 | | regularly supports students through mentorship, professional |
| 19 | | guidance, internships, and engagement with the University's |
| 20 | | recently launched sports communications program; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Through these efforts, Matt Tumbleson has helped |
| 22 | | inspire and prepare the next generation of Illinois students |

| 3 | | WHEREAS, Matt Tumbleson is also known for his dedication |
| 4 | | to family and is a loving husband and devoted father who |
| 5 | | exemplifies the values of integrity and balance in both his |
| 6 | | personal and professional life; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Matt Tumbleson is the proud son of Linda and Dan |
| 8 | | Tumbleson, who continue to reside in Bureau County and whose |
| 9 | | ongoing connection to the community reflects the enduring |
| 10 | | roots of the Tumbleson family in the State of Illinois; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Matt Tumbleson's achievements stand as a |
| 12 | | testament to the opportunities afforded by Illinois |
| 13 | | communities and institutions and to the impact that committed |
| 14 | | and talented individuals can have on a national and |
| 15 | | international stage; therefore, be it |
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 17 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 | | we congratulate Matt Tumbleson on his outstanding professional |
