HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Judy Kay
4Thompson of Godfrey, who passed away on March 24, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Judy Thompson was born to Paul Godfrey and Eva
6(Mandorca) Fortschneider in Alton on June 7, 1949; she married
7Larry Lynn Thompson at St. Mary's Catholic Church on November
821, 1969; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Judy Thompson had a deep love for education and
10began working at Godfrey's St. Ambrose School in 1978, where
11she spent many years as a Kindergarten teacher and then taught
12computer classes at all grade levels until her retirement in
132013; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Judy Thompson enjoyed music and classic cars; she
15was involved with her church, the Rotary Club, and the Alton
16Water Ski Club, where she served as show director and
17performed; above all, she loved her husband, children,
18grandchildren, and friends, and she often shared stories of
19her children and grandchildren's achievements; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Judy Thompson is survived by her husband, Larry;
21her daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Scott) Weiner; her son, John

1Warren (Stephanie) Thompson; and her five grandchildren,
2Garrett (fiancée Kaitlyn Coles) Weiner, Lauren Weiner, Allie
3Weiner, Lillian Thompson, and Caroline Thompson; therefore, be

5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we mourn the passing of Judy Kay Thompson and extend our
8sincere condolences to her family, friends, students, and all
9who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Judy Thompson as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
