HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Christie
4E. (Thomas) Fischer of Zion, who passed away on February 23,
52026; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Christie Fischer, the daughter of Logan H. Thomas
7Jr. and Jessie E. Thomas, was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on
8September 5, 1959; she served as an electronic signals
9intelligence analyst for the United States Army from 1981 to
101985, and she received the Army Achievement Medal, Oak Leaf
11Cluster, and the Army Commendation Medal for her service; she
12received a Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law in
132005 and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Barat College,
14graduating magna cum laude in 2002; she married Christopher
15James Fischer in Indianapolis on October 25, 1986; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Christie Fischer worked as a loss prevention
17investigator for White Hen Pantry, Inc., a service
18representative for the American Medical Association, and as an
19associate instructor in Criminal Law and Legal Writing for
20Westwood College; she served as a clinical instructor, a
21research assistant, and a clinic intern for the Law Offices of
22Chicago-Kent Richard Kling from 2003 to 2005; she then became
23a staff attorney in the Expungement Unit for the Office of the

1State Appellate Defender from 2005 to 2013 before working for
2the Law Offices of Fischer and Associates from 2014 to 2026;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Christie Fischer served as an usher and volunteer
5at Tempel Lipizzans; she was also involved with the Illinois
6State Bar Association, the Association of Women Attorneys of
7Lake County, the Lake County NAACP, the Lake County Coalition
8to Reduce Recidivism, the Englewood Institute for Civil Rights
9and Studies, the Black Law Student Association, the Student
10Animal Defense League, the Chicago-Kent Chapter, the American
11Civil Liberties Union, the United States Dressage Federation,
12and the United Schutzhund Clubs of America; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Christie Fischer received many awards through her
14community involvement and employment, including the Justinian
15Award for Service from the Lake County Coalition to Reduce
16Recidivism, a Certificate of Appreciation from the Rock Island
17County NAACP, the St. Joseph the Worker Award from the
18Evangelical Catholic Diocese of the Northwest, and the Service
19Award from the Illinois House of Representatives; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Christie Fischer loved cooking, reading books,
21watching movies, and caring for animals, especially dogs and
22horses; and

1    WHEREAS, Christie Fischer was known for her wide ranging
2sense of humor, her devotion to her friends and family, and her
3determination to protect the defenseless; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Christie Fischer was preceded in death by her
5parents and her mother-in-law, Mary Virginia Fischer; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Christie Fischer is survived by her husband,
7Christopher, and her brother, Gregory L. (Sherma) Thomas;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of Christie E. (Thomas) Fischer and
12extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all
13who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Christie Fischer as an expression
16of our deepest sympathy.
