| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to commend David Ellington on his more |
| 4 | | than three decades of dedicated service to treating those |
| 5 | | recovering from addiction; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, David Ellington of Chicago's Uptown neighborhood |
| 7 | | is a deeply respected community member whose decades of |
| 8 | | volunteer and professional service have made a profound and |
| 9 | | lasting impact on countless individuals and families; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, For more than 30 years, David Ellington has led |
| 11 | | addiction recovery meetings, helping hundreds of individuals |
| 12 | | rebuild their lives and sustain long-term recovery through |
| 13 | | compassion, guidance, and unwavering support; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, David Ellington has been tireless in his |
| 15 | | commitment to assisting those in recovery by ensuring they |
| 16 | | have access to meetings, helping them secure employment |
| 17 | | opportunities, and providing the one-on-one mentorship |
| 18 | | necessary to successfully navigate their journey toward |
| 19 | | stability and independence; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, David Ellington has dedicated his time and |
| 21 | | talents to addressing substance abuse issues and supporting |

| 1 | | individuals experiencing homelessness, working both as a staff |
| 2 | | member and volunteer with Heartland Alliance, where he |
| 3 | | provided case management and contributed to critical services |
| 4 | | for vulnerable populations; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, David Ellington helped the community through his |
| 6 | | work with CarePoint, an essential organization that served |
| 7 | | individuals living with HIV/AIDS, offering care, support, and |
| 8 | | dignity to those in need; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, David Ellington has worked with Haymarket Center, |
| 10 | | supporting addiction recovery services for diverse |
| 11 | | populations, and with Lawrence Hall, which provides nurturing |
| 12 | | and healthy living environments for children and young adults |
| 13 | | who have experienced serious trauma; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, David Ellington has also collaborated with |
| 15 | | Lutheran Social Services of Illinois to assist individuals in |
| 16 | | recovery in accessing vital resources, including stable |
| 17 | | housing and supportive services; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, David Ellington is a proud employee of the Office |
| 19 | | of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, where he |
| 20 | | serves with distinction as a court clerk and is known for |
| 21 | | mentoring colleagues and fostering a supportive workplace |
| 22 | | environment; and |

| 2 | | has exemplified compassion, resilience, and an unwavering |
| 3 | | commitment to uplifting others, earning the admiration and |
| 4 | | gratitude of Chicago's diverse Uptown community; therefore, be |

| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 7 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 8 | | we commend David Ellington for his decades of service to the |
| 9 | | community and for his enduring dedication to helping |
| 10 | | individuals achieve recovery, stability, and hope; and be it |
