HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to commend David Ellington on his more than three decades of dedicated service to treating those recovering from addiction; and

WHEREAS, David Ellington of Chicago's Uptown neighborhood is a deeply respected community member whose decades of volunteer and professional service have made a profound and lasting impact on countless individuals and families; and

WHEREAS, For more than 30 years, David Ellington has led addiction recovery meetings, helping hundreds of individuals rebuild their lives and sustain long-term recovery through compassion, guidance, and unwavering support; and

WHEREAS, David Ellington has been tireless in his commitment to assisting those in recovery by ensuring they have access to meetings, helping them secure employment opportunities, and providing the one-on-one mentorship necessary to successfully navigate their journey toward stability and independence; and

WHEREAS, David Ellington has dedicated his time and talents to addressing substance abuse issues and supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, working both as a staff member and volunteer with Heartland Alliance, where he provided case management and contributed to critical services for vulnerable populations; and

WHEREAS, David Ellington helped the community through his work with CarePoint, an essential organization that served individuals living with HIV/AIDS, offering care, support, and dignity to those in need; and

WHEREAS, David Ellington has worked with Haymarket Center, supporting addiction recovery services for diverse populations, and with Lawrence Hall, which provides nurturing and healthy living environments for children and young adults who have experienced serious trauma; and

WHEREAS, David Ellington has also collaborated with Lutheran Social Services of Illinois to assist individuals in recovery in accessing vital resources, including stable housing and supportive services; and

WHEREAS, David Ellington is a proud employee of the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, where he serves with distinction as a court clerk and is known for mentoring colleagues and fostering a supportive workplace environment; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his life and career, David Ellington has exemplified compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting others, earning the admiration and gratitude of Chicago's diverse Uptown community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend David Ellington for his decades of service to the community and for his enduring dedication to helping individuals achieve recovery, stability, and hope; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to David Ellington as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
