HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend David Ellington on his more
4than three decades of dedicated service to treating those
5recovering from addiction; and
 
6    WHEREAS, David Ellington of Chicago's Uptown neighborhood
7is a deeply respected community member whose decades of
8volunteer and professional service have made a profound and
9lasting impact on countless individuals and families; and
 
10    WHEREAS, For more than 30 years, David Ellington has led
11addiction recovery meetings, helping hundreds of individuals
12rebuild their lives and sustain long-term recovery through
13compassion, guidance, and unwavering support; and
 
14    WHEREAS, David Ellington has been tireless in his
15commitment to assisting those in recovery by ensuring they
16have access to meetings, helping them secure employment
17opportunities, and providing the one-on-one mentorship
18necessary to successfully navigate their journey toward
19stability and independence; and
 
20    WHEREAS, David Ellington has dedicated his time and
21talents to addressing substance abuse issues and supporting

1individuals experiencing homelessness, working both as a staff
2member and volunteer with Heartland Alliance, where he
3provided case management and contributed to critical services
4for vulnerable populations; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Ellington helped the community through his
6work with CarePoint, an essential organization that served
7individuals living with HIV/AIDS, offering care, support, and
8dignity to those in need; and
 
9    WHEREAS, David Ellington has worked with Haymarket Center,
10supporting addiction recovery services for diverse
11populations, and with Lawrence Hall, which provides nurturing
12and healthy living environments for children and young adults
13who have experienced serious trauma; and
 
14    WHEREAS, David Ellington has also collaborated with
15Lutheran Social Services of Illinois to assist individuals in
16recovery in accessing vital resources, including stable
17housing and supportive services; and
 
18    WHEREAS, David Ellington is a proud employee of the Office
19of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, where he
20serves with distinction as a court clerk and is known for
21mentoring colleagues and fostering a supportive workplace
22environment; and

1    WHEREAS, Throughout his life and career, David Ellington
2has exemplified compassion, resilience, and an unwavering
3commitment to uplifting others, earning the admiration and
4gratitude of Chicago's diverse Uptown community; therefore, be

6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we commend David Ellington for his decades of service to the
9community and for his enduring dedication to helping
10individuals achieve recovery, stability, and hope; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to David Ellington as a symbol of our esteem and
14respect.
