HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Byron T. Brazier, D.Min.
4on the occasion of his recent appointment to the Office of
5Bishop of the Apostolic Church of God; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier, the son of Bishop Arthur and
7Isabelle Brazier, attended school within the Chicago Public
8Schools system, received his bachelor's degree from Roosevelt
9University, and earned his Masters of Arts in Theological
10Studies and his Doctor of Ministry from McCormick Theological
11Seminary; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier began his career with Johnson &
13Johnson before transitioning to work for the IBM Corporation,
14where he was promoted several times and received national
15recognition for his service and leadership on multiple
16occasions before transitioning again to found his own company,
17Brazier and Associates; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier served the Chicago community as a
19beacon of public service through his position as chief
20information officer for the Chicago Housing Authority,
21positively impacting thousands of lives with his work; and

1    WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier began his religious ministry within
2the Apostolic Church of God as a general administrator in
31995, serving his father and his community for 13 years before
4being named pastor of the Apostolic Church of God in 2008; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier has established the Bishop Arthur M.
6Brazier Foundation in honor of his father to support the
7Woodlawn community in their education, public safety, and
8economic development while actively assisting the community in
9its development of pillars, outlining a unified vision for the
10Network of Woodlawn as well as the execution and upholding of
11these pillars; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier has made impactful contributions to
13both the Apostolic Church of God and the Woodlawn community,
14proving him to be an effective leader and a true spirit of
15service; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier's faith leadership has earned him
17ordination and consecration as a bishop; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we congratulate Byron T. Brazier, D.Min. on his recent
21appointment to the Office of Bishop of the Apostolic Church of
22God; and be it further
