| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Byron T. Brazier, D.Min. | ||||||
| 4 | on the occasion of his recent appointment to the Office of | ||||||
| 5 | Bishop of the Apostolic Church of God; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier, the son of Bishop Arthur and | ||||||
| 7 | Isabelle Brazier, attended school within the Chicago Public | ||||||
| 8 | Schools system, received his bachelor's degree from Roosevelt | ||||||
| 9 | University, and earned his Masters of Arts in Theological | ||||||
| 10 | Studies and his Doctor of Ministry from McCormick Theological | ||||||
| 11 | Seminary; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier began his career with Johnson & | ||||||
| 13 | Johnson before transitioning to work for the IBM Corporation, | ||||||
| 14 | where he was promoted several times and received national | ||||||
| 15 | recognition for his service and leadership on multiple | ||||||
| 16 | occasions before transitioning again to found his own company, | ||||||
| 17 | Brazier and Associates; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier served the Chicago community as a | ||||||
| 19 | beacon of public service through his position as chief | ||||||
| 20 | information officer for the Chicago Housing Authority, | ||||||
| 21 | positively impacting thousands of lives with his work; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier began his religious ministry within | ||||||
| 2 | the Apostolic Church of God as a general administrator in | ||||||
| 3 | 1995, serving his father and his community for 13 years before | ||||||
| 4 | being named pastor of the Apostolic Church of God in 2008; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier has established the Bishop Arthur M. | ||||||
| 6 | Brazier Foundation in honor of his father to support the | ||||||
| 7 | Woodlawn community in their education, public safety, and | ||||||
| 8 | economic development while actively assisting the community in | ||||||
| 9 | its development of pillars, outlining a unified vision for the | ||||||
| 10 | Network of Woodlawn as well as the execution and upholding of | ||||||
| 11 | these pillars; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier has made impactful contributions to | ||||||
| 13 | both the Apostolic Church of God and the Woodlawn community, | ||||||
| 14 | proving him to be an effective leader and a true spirit of | ||||||
| 15 | service; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Dr. Brazier's faith leadership has earned him | ||||||
| 17 | ordination and consecration as a bishop; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 19 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 20 | we congratulate Byron T. Brazier, D.Min. on his recent | ||||||
| 21 | appointment to the Office of Bishop of the Apostolic Church of | ||||||
| 22 | God; and be it further | ||||||
