| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to commend Felix Saji on being named to | ||||||
| 4 | the Curriculum Associates 2026 Class of Extraordinary | ||||||
| 5 | Educators; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Now in its seventh year, the Curriculum | ||||||
| 7 | Associates Extraordinary Educators program recognizes and | ||||||
| 8 | celebrates dedicated educators who teach with a focus on | ||||||
| 9 | providing high-quality instruction while achieving student | ||||||
| 10 | success; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Felix Saji, a fourth grade teacher at John V. | ||||||
| 12 | Leigh School of Norridge School District 80, has made an | ||||||
| 13 | outstanding professional effort towards improving the | ||||||
| 14 | education and lives of students in his classroom during his | ||||||
| 15 | eight-year tenure at the school; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Felix Saji has been teaching the i-Ready | ||||||
| 17 | curriculum in math for the last six years and the magnetic | ||||||
| 18 | reading curriculum for the last three years; his classroom | ||||||
| 19 | teaching has demonstrated consistent, best-in-class use of | ||||||
| 20 | i-Ready tools, including using data to drive learning, | ||||||
| 21 | creating inclusive learning environments, and encouraging | ||||||
| 22 | ongoing professional development; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, As a member of the Curriculum Associates 2026 | ||||||
| 2 | Class of Extraordinary Educators, Felix Saji is one of 26 | ||||||
| 3 | educators selected from 32 states for exhibiting instructional | ||||||
| 4 | excellence and a deep commitment to student growth and | ||||||
| 5 | achievement; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Through this honor, Felix Saji has earned the | ||||||
| 7 | opportunity for ongoing professional learning and networking | ||||||
| 8 | opportunities to help him continue to develop his expertise; | ||||||
| 9 | and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Felix Saji received his bachelor's degree in | ||||||
| 11 | elementary education with endorsements in mathematics and | ||||||
| 12 | middle grades from the University of Illinois Chicago; he also | ||||||
| 13 | earned two master's degrees, one in teaching and learning with | ||||||
| 14 | endorsements in ESL and TESOL and one in leadership with | ||||||
| 15 | endorsements in principal leadership and teacher leader, from | ||||||
| 16 | the University of St. Francis; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Felix Saji has received a number of accolades | ||||||
| 18 | during his teaching career, including being named a 2014 | ||||||
| 19 | Golden Apple Scholar and a 2023 Crystal Apple Award recipient; | ||||||
| 20 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||

| 1 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 2 | we commend Felix Saji, a fourth grade teacher at John V. Leigh | ||||||
| 3 | School, on being named to the Curriculum Associates 2026 Class | ||||||
| 4 | of Extraordinary Educators and for his continued extraordinary | ||||||
| 5 | efforts in and out of the classroom; and be it further | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to Felix Saji as a symbol of our esteem and respect. | ||||||
