HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr.
4Angela Martin, a legendary gospel radio host, minister, and
5pillar of faith in the Chicago community; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Martin's distinguished media career spanned
718 years, during which time she lent her voice to Crawford
8Broadcasting, Clear Channel, and iHeart Media; she was the
9celebrated host of Sky High Praise on 106.3 WYBA, a fixture on
10The John Hannah Morning Show on Inspiration 1390, and a
11trusted traffic announcer for The Tom Joyner Morning Show on
12WVAZ 102.7; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dr. Martin's excellence in broadcasting was
14recognized nationally when she received the prestigious
15Stellar Award for Gospel Announcer of the Year in 2015, a
16moment she described as a career-defining achievement; she was
17further honored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. with the
18Echoes in Excellence Award in media and journalism; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Martin spent 23 years in corporate America at
20AT&T before answering her full-time calling to ministry;
21demonstrating profound courage, she left the corporate sector
22behind, stating her desire to have "no boundaries, no

1ceilings" in her service to her faith; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dr. Martin was a dedicated intercessor who
3founded Angela Martin Ministries, Inc., where she pioneered
4the Onederful Prayer meetings for women of faith; during the
5challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, she launched P.O.P.-Up
6(People Online Praying Up), a virtual prayer sanctuary that
7provided spiritual comfort to thousands; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dr. Martin was a gifted author whose book, Let Me
9Teach You How to Pray Everyday, reached number one on Amazon's
10New Releases, and her theological contributions earned her an
11honorary Doctor of Divinity from the WWMI Bible Institute and
12Seminary in 2023; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dr. Martin's legacy lives on through the
14countless lives she touched with her voice, her prayers, and
15her unwavering commitment to her faith; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we mourn the passing of Dr. Angela Martin and extend our
19sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
20and loved her; and be it further
