HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend Carl Sandburg College and its
4Student Development division for their significant service to
5the community and commitment to developing the leadership
6abilities of students; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Many clubs at Carl Sandburg College serve the
8community, including Men of Distinction (MOD), Women of
9Character (WOC), International Student Club (ISC),
10Hispanic-Latino Student Association (HLSA), Black Student
11Association (BSA), and African Student Association (ASA); and
 
12    WHEREAS, Carl Sandburg College clubs engaged 105 of 139
13students for a participation rate of 76% from August 2024 to
14March 2026, with clubs completing 4,261 verified volunteer
15hours and 67 additional event hours as they fulfilled 2,178
16commitments across 349 service opportunities, generating an
17economic impact of approximately $148,247; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The service initiatives of Carl Sandburg College
19clubs have had an impact in multiple areas, including 3,629
20hours devoted to education, 422 hours of civic and community
21engagement, 199 hours for health initiatives, and 9 hours for
22children and services; and

1    WHEREAS, Carl Sandburg College and its Student Development
2division have made tremendous contributions to their community
3through countless hours of service; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we commend Carl Sandburg College clubs and the Student
7Development division for their incredible service and the
8thousands of hours they have dedicated to the betterment of
9their community; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
11presented to the leaders of Carl Sandburg College's Men of
12Distinction, Women of Character, International Student Club,
13Hispanic-Latino Student Association, Black Student
14Association, African Student Association, and the Associate
15Director of Student Engagement and Leadership, Anthony Law
16III, as an expression of our esteem.
