HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Curt Oldfield, Ed.D. on 
4the occasion of concluding his 14-year tenure as president of 
5Spoon River College; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Spoon River College is a two-year, public 
7community college in West Central Illinois, with campuses and 
8Community Outreach Centers in Canton and Macomb as well as 
9Learning Resource Centers in Havana and Rushville; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Oldfield was initially a student at Spoon 
11River College, later becoming an instructor and then a dean 
12before serving as college president for 14 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, During his tenure, Dr. Oldfield made significant 
14contributions to Spoon River College and its community, and 
15his major initiatives included increasing retention, expanding 
16workforce development programs, and developing strategic 
17partnerships; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Oldfield also guided Spoon River College 
19through several capital projects, including construction of 
20the Multi-Purpose Building and the baseball and softball 
21fields on the Canton Campus and the development of the new

1Macomb Campus; and
 
2    WHEREAS, After departing Spoon River College this summer, 
3Dr. Oldfield will continue his professional growth as 
4president of Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield; 
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
7HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we congratulate Curt Oldfield, Ed.D. on concluding his 14-year 
9tenure as president of Spoon River College, and we wish him 
10continued success in his future endeavors; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Dr. Oldfield as an expression of our esteem and 
13respect.
