| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Joanna Goldberg on being | ||||||
| 4 | named to the Extraordinary Educators Class of 2026 by | ||||||
| 5 | Curriculum Associates; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg is one of 26 educators from 32 | ||||||
| 7 | states selected to be an Extraordinary Educator for exhibiting | ||||||
| 8 | instructional excellence and a deep commitment to equity and | ||||||
| 9 | student growth; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg received the award from the | ||||||
| 11 | Extraordinary Educators, now in its seventh year, which seeks | ||||||
| 12 | to inspire students with dedication to high-quality | ||||||
| 13 | instruction and student success; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg has taught second and third grade | ||||||
| 15 | at Sherlock Elementary School in Cicero for the past 17 years | ||||||
| 16 | and has made an outstanding professional effort towards | ||||||
| 17 | improving the education and lives of students in her | ||||||
| 18 | classroom, cherishing "lightbulb moments" when students truly | ||||||
| 19 | understand something new; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg's passion for teaching began | ||||||
| 21 | early, inspired by the joy of working with children; in the | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | classroom, her teaching utilizes i-Ready diagnostic data, end | ||||||
| 2 | of unit assessments, and other measures to identify learning | ||||||
| 3 | gaps, set meaningful goals with students, and celebrate growth | ||||||
| 4 | along the way; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg's students have shown remarkable | ||||||
| 6 | achievements; her students consistently exceed expected gains | ||||||
| 7 | on i-Ready Diagnostics, and in 2024, 100% of her students met | ||||||
| 8 | their MAP goals; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg is dedicated to the continuous | ||||||
| 10 | growth of her students and regularly engages in online | ||||||
| 11 | learning and collaborations with instructional coaches to stay | ||||||
| 12 | current on best practices; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg embodies what it means to be a | ||||||
| 14 | teacher, someone who transforms outcomes, uplifts others, and | ||||||
| 15 | ensures every student has the opportunity to thrive; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg earned her bachelor's degree in | ||||||
| 17 | elementary education with a Spanish minor from Indiana | ||||||
| 18 | University and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction | ||||||
| 19 | with an ESL endorsement from Concordia University Chicago in | ||||||
| 20 | River Forest; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg will be given the opportunity for | ||||||

| 1 | ongoing professional learning and networking opportunities | ||||||
| 2 | through this honor to help her continue to develop expertise | ||||||
| 3 | and foster achievement; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 5 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 6 | we congratulate Joanna Goldberg on being named to the | ||||||
| 7 | Extraordinary Educators Class of 2026 by Curriculum Associates | ||||||
| 8 | and commend her for her extraordinary efforts in and out of the | ||||||
| 9 | classroom; and be it further | ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 11 | presented to Joanna Goldberg as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 12 | esteem. | ||||||
