HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Joanna Goldberg on being
4named to the Extraordinary Educators Class of 2026 by
5Curriculum Associates; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg is one of 26 educators from 32
7states selected to be an Extraordinary Educator for exhibiting
8instructional excellence and a deep commitment to equity and
9student growth; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg received the award from the
11Extraordinary Educators, now in its seventh year, which seeks
12to inspire students with dedication to high-quality
13instruction and student success; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg has taught second and third grade
15at Sherlock Elementary School in Cicero for the past 17 years
16and has made an outstanding professional effort towards
17improving the education and lives of students in her
18classroom, cherishing "lightbulb moments" when students truly
19understand something new; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg's passion for teaching began
21early, inspired by the joy of working with children; in the

1classroom, her teaching utilizes i-Ready diagnostic data, end
2of unit assessments, and other measures to identify learning
3gaps, set meaningful goals with students, and celebrate growth
4along the way; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg's students have shown remarkable
6achievements; her students consistently exceed expected gains
7on i-Ready Diagnostics, and in 2024, 100% of her students met
8their MAP goals; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg is dedicated to the continuous
10growth of her students and regularly engages in online
11learning and collaborations with instructional coaches to stay
12current on best practices; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg embodies what it means to be a
14teacher, someone who transforms outcomes, uplifts others, and
15ensures every student has the opportunity to thrive; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg earned her bachelor's degree in
17elementary education with a Spanish minor from Indiana
18University and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction
19with an ESL endorsement from Concordia University Chicago in
20River Forest; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Joanna Goldberg will be given the opportunity for

1ongoing professional learning and networking opportunities
2through this honor to help her continue to develop expertise
3and foster achievement; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we congratulate Joanna Goldberg on being named to the
7Extraordinary Educators Class of 2026 by Curriculum Associates
8and commend her for her extraordinary efforts in and out of the
9classroom; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Joanna Goldberg as a symbol of our respect and
12esteem.
