HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The men and women from Illinois who have
3honorably served our nation have done so with courage,
4discipline, and a steadfast commitment to protecting the
5freedoms we enjoy; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Illinois veterans from all branches of the Armed
7Forces, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps,
8Coast Guard, Space Force, and the Illinois National Guard,
9continue to serve their communities as leaders, mentors, first
10responders, business owners, and public servants; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The transition from military service to civilian
12life presents both opportunities and challenges, making it
13important to recognize not only the sacrifices made in uniform
14but also the ongoing needs of Illinois veterans and their
15families; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The month of May includes observances such as
17Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day, providing a meaningful
18opportunity for the people of Illinois to reflect on service,
19sacrifice, and continued contributions; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
21HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we declare May 2026 as Illinois Military Appreciation Month in
2the State of Illinois to honor the service, sacrifice, and
3continued contributions of veterans across our State; and be
4it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That citizens, schools, businesses, veterans'
6organizations, and government entities across Illinois are
7encouraged to observe Illinois Military Appreciation Month
8through activities that recognize veterans' ongoing impact,
9support their successful transition to civilian life, and
10strengthen connections between veterans and the communities
11they serve; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That these observances serve to complement
13remembrance efforts by recognizing not only those we have lost
14but also those who continue to serve our State and nation in
15new ways every day.
