HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Brave men and women from Illinois and across the
3nation serving in the United States Armed Forces have made the
4ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation and its cherished
5freedoms; and
 
6    WHEREAS, These fallen heroes answered the call to serve
7with courage and selflessness, laying down their lives to
8protect the liberties we hold dear; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The month of June holds deep historical
10significance to our nation, including the anniversary of
11D-Day, a defining moment that exemplifies the bravery and
12sacrifice of American service members; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Recognizing and honoring those who were killed in
14action ensures that their sacrifice is never forgotten and
15serves as a powerful reminder to future generations of the
16true cost of freedom; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Establishing a dedicated time of remembrance
18provides an opportunity for reflection, education, and
19meaningful support for the families of the fallen; therefore,

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we declare June 2026 as Illinois Fallen Heroes Month in the
4State of Illinois to honor the service and sacrifice of fallen
5heroes across our State; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That we encourage citizens, schools, businesses,
7veterans' organizations, and government entities across the
8State to observe Illinois Fallen Heroes Month through
9ceremonies, tributes, and acts of remembrance that honor the
10legacy and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for our
11nation; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That we affirm that these observances serve as a
13solemn counterpart to Illinois Military Appreciation Month,
14ensuring that we both honor those who continue to serve our
15communities and remember those who made the ultimate
16sacrifice.
