| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Irish Cardiac Society | ||||||
| 4 | on the occasion of its visit to the City of Springfield, the | ||||||
| 5 | capital of the State of Illinois, on May 8, 2026; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Irish Cardiac Society will be hosted by the | ||||||
| 7 | Illinois Chapter of the American College of Cardiology, under | ||||||
| 8 | the distinguished leadership of Governor Benjamin Freed, M.D., | ||||||
| 9 | for a joint symposium at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential | ||||||
| 10 | Library and Museum this weekend, bringing together leading | ||||||
| 11 | cardiovascular professionals from both nations in a spirit of | ||||||
| 12 | scholarly excellence and shared purpose; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, The twinning, or pairing, of the Illinois Chapter | ||||||
| 14 | of the American College of Cardiology with the Irish Cardiac | ||||||
| 15 | Society represents a proud and enduring bond of professional | ||||||
| 16 | friendship, uniting physicians and researchers across the | ||||||
| 17 | Atlantic in their common mission to advance the science and | ||||||
| 18 | practice of cardiovascular medicine and to improve the lives | ||||||
| 19 | of patients; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has long cherished its deep | ||||||
| 21 | and historic ties to the people of Ireland, ties forged | ||||||
| 22 | through generations of Irish immigrants who helped build this | ||||||

| 1 | State and enriched its culture, civic life, and proud | ||||||
| 2 | traditions, and whose influence continues to be woven into the | ||||||
| 3 | very fabric of Illinois communities from Chicago to | ||||||
| 4 | Springfield; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Partnerships such as the twinning between the | ||||||
| 6 | Illinois Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and the | ||||||
| 7 | Irish Cardiac Society exemplify the finest expression of | ||||||
| 8 | international goodwill, demonstrating that the bonds among | ||||||
| 9 | nations are strengthened not only by diplomacy and commerce | ||||||
| 10 | but also by the fellowship of individuals dedicated to healing | ||||||
| 11 | and the common good; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 13 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we congratulate and welcome the Irish Cardiac Society to the | ||||||
| 15 | City of Springfield, commend the Illinois Chapter of the | ||||||
| 16 | American College of Cardiology and chapter leader Governor | ||||||
| 17 | Benjamin Freed, M.D. for their outstanding leadership in | ||||||
| 18 | fostering this historic twinning, and extend our warmest | ||||||
| 19 | wishes for a successful and memorable symposium; and be it | ||||||
| 20 | further | ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to the Irish Cardiac Society and the Illinois | ||||||
| 23 | Chapter of the American College of Cardiology as a symbol of | ||||||
