HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Christ Lutheran 
4School (Peoria) boys basketball team, the Comets, on a 
5remarkable 2025-26 season; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Comets played against both 3A and 4A IESA 
7schools as well as Lutheran schools and in tournaments in St. 
8Louis, Missouri and Cedar Rapids, Iowa and hosted their 
9traditional Christ Lutheran Tournament; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Comets participated in the Illinois Lutheran 
11State Tournament in Chicago, where they defeated their rival, 
12Concordia Lutheran School, in the championship game; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The Comets competed in the National Lutheran 
14Tournament in Fort Wayne, Indiana, finishing in 3rd place; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Comets complied a season record of 37 wins 
16and only 5 losses; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Comets are led by Head Coach Terry Mooney 
18Jr., Assistant Coaches Terry Mooney Sr. and Marcellus 
19Sommerville, Athletic Director Jennifer Lamberti, and 
20Principal Nat Schmidtke; and

1    WHEREAS, The Comets are Demario Weldy, Ethan McElmurry, 
2Christian Fuller, Jay'Mir Williams, Camden Knox-Reed, Lawson 
3Sommerville, Dace Craig-Edwards, Caleb Morris, Terrance 
4Slater, Kayden Thomas, Channing Knox-Reed, Mahki Moll, Joel 
5Lloyd Clayton, and Nash Mooney; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
7HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we congratulate the Christ Lutheran School (Peoria) boys 
9basketball team, the Comets, on a remarkable 2025-26 season, 
10and we wish them many more successful seasons; and be it 
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
13presented to the Comets' coaches and players as a symbol of our 
14respect and esteem.
