HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marilyn
4Lea Satterwhite of Danville, who passed away on January 5,
52026; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite, the daughter of Raymond and
7Lucile Weinard, was born in Rossville on October 8, 1942; she
8graduated from Rossville Public Schools in 1960; she earned
9her Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Eastern
10Illinois University in 1964; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite, after earning her college
12degree, became a teacher at Danville High School; after
13meeting Mary Miller, the founding president of Danville Junior
14College (DJC), she was persuaded to teach veterans returning
15from World War II and advanced shorthand at DJC; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite was a recognized and honored
17founder of Danville Area Community College (DACC) and
18chairwoman of the DACC Business Division; she was co-founder
19of the DACC Chapter of the State University Annuitants
20Association, where she served in leadership roles until 2025;
21she was also instrumental in launching the Business and
22Economic Institute of DACC and established DACC's first

1Business Club; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite was the co-author of 12
3textbooks, belonged to numerous professional organizations,
4and was an active member of 4-H for 21 years; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite was the wife of Bill
6Satterwhite for 57 years, the mother of Marcy L. Satterwhite
7and David D. Satterwhite, and the grandmother of James W.
8Hovious; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of Marilyn Lea Satterwhite and extend our
12sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
13and loved her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Marilyn Satterwhite as an
16expression of our deepest sympathy.
