HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marilyn Lea Satterwhite of Danville, who passed away on January 5, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite, the daughter of Raymond and Lucile Weinard, was born in Rossville on October 8, 1942; she graduated from Rossville Public Schools in 1960; she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1964; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite, after earning her college degree, became a teacher at Danville High School; after meeting Mary Miller, the founding president of Danville Junior College (DJC), she was persuaded to teach veterans returning from World War II and advanced shorthand at DJC; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite was a recognized and honored founder of Danville Area Community College (DACC) and chairwoman of the DACC Business Division; she was co-founder of the DACC Chapter of the State University Annuitants Association, where she served in leadership roles until 2025; she was also instrumental in launching the Business and Economic Institute of DACC and established DACC's first Business Club; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite was the co-author of 12 textbooks, belonged to numerous professional organizations, and was an active member of 4-H for 21 years; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite was the wife of Bill Satterwhite for 57 years, the mother of Marcy L. Satterwhite and David D. Satterwhite, and the grandmother of James W. Hovious; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marilyn Lea Satterwhite and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marilyn Satterwhite as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
