HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend Frank J. Mautino on the
4occasion of his retirement following a decade of distinguished
5service as Illinois Auditor General; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Frank Mautino was born in Spring Valley on August
77, 1962; he earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from
8Illinois State University in 1984 and rose to the position of
9Corporate Brand Manager in his family's beverage distribution
10business, Mautino Distributing Company, Inc., before beginning
11a career dedicated to the people of Illinois when he succeeded
12his late father, Richard Mautino, as a state representative;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Prior to his appointment as Auditor General,
15Frank Mautino served with distinction for 24 years in the
16Illinois House of Representatives, where he held the vital
17post of Deputy Majority Leader and budget negotiator,
18championing issues of fiscal responsibility and
19sustainability; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Frank Mautino served on the Legislative Audit
21Commission for 18 years during his legislative tenure,
22including 12 years as co-chairman, where he reviewed

1approximately 2,000 audits and 10,000 findings, developing a
2deep respect for the oversight role of the legislative branch;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Since assuming the office of Illinois Auditor
5General in 2016, Frank Mautino has led the institution with
6integrity and professionalism, overseeing the completion of
7hundreds of audits, including 1,200 financial, compliance, and
8single audits and 200 information technology and cyber
9security audits; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Frank Mautino's leadership has safeguarded
11taxpayer dollars, strengthened accountability, and maintained
12the Office of the Auditor General's reputation for nonpartisan
13excellence, ensuring that State agencies operate effectively
14and in accordance with the law; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Frank Mautino's 34-year career in State
16government has spanned the terms of six Governors, seven
17Comptrollers, and five Treasurers, marking a historic chapter
18of service and dedication to good governance; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Throughout his demanding career, Frank Mautino
20has been supported by his loving family, including his wife,
21Lena, and their three children, Pietro "Peter" Joseph, Luciana
22Christina, and James Michael, as well as his late mother Joan,

1sister Julia, and brother Richie; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
3HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4we congratulate Frank J. Mautino on his retirement as Illinois
5Auditor General, commend him for his many years of faithful
6public service, and thank him for his unwavering commitment to
7the integrity of the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That we extend our best wishes to Frank Mautino,
9his wife, and their children for continued health, happiness,
10and success in all of their future endeavors; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Frank J. Mautino as a symbol of our profound
13respect and appreciation.
