HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Steve Stuart, Ed.D. on
4the conclusion of his outstanding career in education while
5making a lasting impact on Edwardsville Community Unit School
6District #7, the EGHM Foundation, and the Edwardsville
7community; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart, a 1985 graduate of Edwardsville High
9School (EHS), earned his bachelor's degree in history from
10Illinois State University in 1990, and he later completed a
11Master of Education in 1999 and a Doctor of Education from
12Saint Louis University in 2007; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart devoted more than two decades to
14educational administration within Edwardsville Community Unit
15School District #7, serving in several impactful leadership
16roles throughout his distinguished career; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart began his administrative career as an
18assistant principal at EHS before serving as principal of
19Lincoln Middle School for 13 years, where he positively
20impacted countless students, families, and educators; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart later returned to EHS as principal,

1serving four years as the instructional leader of one of the
2largest high schools in the region, where he was responsible
3for overseeing nearly 2,400 students, EHS South, the N.O.
4Nelson campus, and the school's extensive athletic facilities;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Stuart helped
7relaunch the EHS Hall of Fame, which had remained dormant
8since the late 1980s, through working alongside former
9Athletic Director Alex Fox and the Edwardsville Community Unit
10School District #7 Board of Education to successfully
11reinstate the organization in 2021; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart championed academic innovation during
13his tenure, including the transition from the traditional
14valedictorian and salutatorian rankings to a laude recognition
15system designed to encourage students to pursue courses based
16on personal interests, educational value, and future career
17goals; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Following his retirement as an administrator at
19Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7 in 2024, Dr.
20Stuart continued his service to education and the Edwardsville
21community as executive director of the EGHM Foundation, a
22not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization established in the late
231970s for the sole purpose of supporting District #7, with

1members consisting of local business leaders throughout the
2community who focus on funding projects that directly benefit
3as many students as possible; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Dr. Stuart earned the
5respect and admiration of students, staff, parents, and
6community members through his calm leadership style,
7student-centered approach, and unwavering commitment to
8educational excellence; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart's lifelong dedication to education,
10leadership, and student success has left a lasting impact on
11Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7 and the broader
12community; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we congratulate Steve Stuart, Ed.D. on concluding his
16outstanding career in education, and we commend him for his
17years of exemplary service and leadership to Edwardsville
18Community Unit School District #7, the EGHM Foundation, and
19the Edwardsville community; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to Dr. Stuart as an expression of our esteem and
22respect.
