HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Economic development and opportunity are 
3priorities in the State of Illinois; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Illinois is proud to be a national leader in 
5outdoor tourism, highlighting the beauty and diverse landscape 
6of our State; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Off-highway vehicles, such as all-terrain 
8vehicles (ATVs), utility task vehicles (UTVs), and dirt bikes, 
9have seen a dramatic increase in ownership, with a projected 
10market growth of over $5 billion nationally over the next five 
11years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Tourism associated with off-highway vehicles has 
13resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue 
14throughout the Midwest; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Illinois is home to a growing tourism industry 
16involving off-highway vehicles, including private and 
17publicly-owned facilities; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Additional opportunities for development of 
19off-highway vehicle tourism still remain within the State of 
20Illinois; and

1    WHEREAS, It is within the purview of the House of 
2Representatives to encourage economic development and 
3opportunity in Illinois; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we recognize the current impact and potential for future 
7growth of the off-highway vehicle tourism industry in State of 
8Illinois; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That we encourage all stakeholders and state 
10agencies to continue fostering the growth of the off-highway 
11vehicle tourism industry by working together to develop new 
12opportunities for the enjoyment of off-highway vehicles in 
13Illinois.
