| 1 | | AN ACT concerning safety.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Interstate Mutual Emergency Aid Act is |
| 5 | | amended by adding Section 12 as follows:

| 6 | | (5 ILCS 235/12 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 12. Emergency aid to bordering states. |
| 8 | | Notwithstanding any provision of this Act to the contrary, any |
| 9 | | public safety agency, including, but not limited to, a fire |
| 10 | | department, a fire protection district, emergency medical |
| 11 | | services, a municipal police department, a county sheriff's |
| 12 | | department, a local emergency management agency, a local |
| 13 | | public works department, or public or private contractors of |
| 14 | | any such public safety agency, may provide assistance to any |
| 15 | | other public safety agency in the State or in a bordering State |
| 16 | | at the time of a disaster, such as a fire, earthquake, flood, |
| 17 | | tornado, hazardous material incident, or other such disaster. |
