AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1078

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1078 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Wildlife Code is amended by changing
5Section 2.10 as follows:
 
6    (520 ILCS 5/2.10)  (from Ch. 61, par. 2.10)
7    Sec. 2.10. The Department may, on an annual basis,
8establish a spring wild turkey open season within the period
9beginning on March 1 and running through May 31, and a fall
10wild turkey season within the period beginning on October 1
11and running through January 31. The Department may, on an
12annual basis, establish a youth-only spring wild turkey season
13which shall include 2 consecutive weekends. It shall be
14unlawful for any person to take wild turkey without possessing
15a valid "Wild Turkey Hunting Permit". Persons holding a spring
16permit may take female wild turkeys with visible beards or

1male wild turkeys during the spring open season. Persons
2holding a fall permit may take turkeys of either sex during the
3fall open season. A hunter who has not reached the age of 18
4and holds a Youth Turkey Hunt Permit may take one wild turkey
5of either sex during the youth-only spring wild turkey season
6or, if unable to take a turkey during the youth-only spring
7wild turkey season, then during any subsequent open wild
8turkey season until the hunter is able to take a wild turkey.
9The Department shall cause notice of administrative rules
10setting forth the prescribed rules and regulations, including
11those counties of the State where open seasons are
12established, to be given in accordance with Sections 1.3 and
131.13.
