| 8 | | plates. |
| 9 | | (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the |
| 10 | | Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and |
| 11 | | applications made in the form prescribed by the Secretary of |
| 12 | | State, may issue United Nations Protection Force license |
| 13 | | plates to residents of this State who served in the United |
| 14 | | Nations Protection Force in Yugoslavia, Somalia, Panama, or |
| 15 | | Grenada. The special United Nations Protection Force plate |
| 16 | | issued under this Section shall be affixed only to passenger |

| 1 | | vehicles of the first division, motorcycles, autocycles, and |
| 2 | | motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than |
| 3 | | 8,000 pounds. Plates issued under this Section shall expire |
| 4 | | according to the staggered multi-year procedure established by |
| 5 | | Section 3-414.1 of this Code. |
| 6 | | (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be |
| 7 | | wholly within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The |
| 8 | | Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be |
| 9 | | issued as vanity plates or personalized in accordance with |
| 10 | | Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates are not required to |
| 11 | | designate "Land of Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) |
| 12 | | of Section 3-412 of this Code. The Secretary shall approve and |
| 13 | | prescribe stickers or decals as provided under Section 3-412. |
| 14 | | (c) An applicant shall be charged a $15 fee for original |
| 15 | | issuance in addition to the applicable registration fee. This |
| 16 | | additional fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of State |
| 17 | | Special License Plate Fund. For each registration renewal |
| 18 | | period, a $2 fee, in addition to the appropriate registration |
| 19 | | fee, shall be charged and shall be deposited into the |
| 20 | | Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund. |
