| 3 | | line 5, by inserting "and by adding Section 309.1" after |

| 5 | | on page 102, by inserting immediately below line 10 the |

| 7 | | "(720 ILCS 570/309.1 new) |
| 8 | | Sec. 309.1. Veterinarian; xylazine. Notwithstanding the |
| 9 | | scheduling of xylazine as a Schedule III controlled substance, |
| 10 | | the prohibition on delivery or possession with intent to |
| 11 | | deliver xylazine does not apply to licensed veterinarians who |
| 12 | | lawfully prescribe, dispense, administer, acquire, or use any |
| 13 | | controlled substance, including xylazine, while acting in the |
| 14 | | course of their professional practice, in good faith, and in |
| 15 | | accordance with generally accepted medical standards.". |
