AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1814

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1814 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and
5Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
6amended by adding Sections 2310-735 and 2310-740 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 2310/2310-735 new)
8    Sec. 2310-735. Public educational effort on amniotic fluid
9embolism.
10    (a) As used in this Section, "amniotic fluid embolism"
11means a rare obstetric emergency in which amniotic fluid,
12fetal cells, hair, or other debris enters the maternal
13bloodstream leading to cardiovascular collapse, respiratory
14failure, and disseminated intravascular coagulation.
15    (b) The Department shall conduct educational activities
16for providers on the signs, symptoms, and management of

1amniotic fluid embolism.
2    (c) The Department shall make available information about
3amniotic fluid embolism on the Department's website.
 
4    (20 ILCS 2310/2310-740 new)
5    Sec. 2310-740. Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever; public
6announcements. The Department of Public Health shall adopt
7rules requiring a local health department to make public
8announcements for the purpose of informing the general public
9when a positive case of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever is
10detected within a county or area under the local health
11department's jurisdiction.
 
12    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
13becoming law.".
