| 1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Department of Transportation Law of the |
| 5 | | Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding |
| 6 | | Section 2705-206 as follows:
|
| 7 | | (20 ILCS 2705/2705-206 new) |
| 8 | | Sec. 2705-206. Road safety assessment. The Department |
| 9 | | shall conduct a road safety assessment for the 10 most |
| 10 | | hazardous intersections under State jurisdiction in Will |
| 11 | | County south of Interstate 80. The Department, in consultation |
| 12 | | with local agencies, shall determine the intersections to be |
| 13 | | studied. The road safety assessment shall be a formal, |
| 14 | | independent, comprehensive safety performance review of |
| 15 | | roadway and intersection safety in compliance with 23 CFR 924 |
| 16 | | and provide opportunities for improvement. Expressways shall |
| 17 | | not be included in the road safety assessment. The Department |
| 18 | | shall submit the road safety assessment to the General |
| 19 | | Assembly by January 1, 2028. |
| 20 | | This Section is repealed on July 1, 2028. |
