| 1 | | AN ACT concerning State government. |
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
| 4 | | Section 5. The Department of Commerce and Economic |
| 5 | | Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois |
| 6 | | is amended by adding Section 605-1119 as follows: |
| 7 | | (20 ILCS 605/605-1119 new) |
| 8 | | Sec. 605-1119. Small Business Stabilization Grant Program. |
| 9 | | (a) The Department shall establish the Small Business |
| 10 | | Stabilization Grant Program to provide grants to eligible |
| 11 | | small businesses experiencing financial hardship, as |
| 12 | | determined by the Department by rule. |
| 13 | | (b) Subject to appropriation, grants under this Section |
| 14 | | shall not exceed $25,000 per business and may be used for |
| 15 | | working capital, payroll, rent, utilities, or equipment |
| 16 | | expenses. |
| 17 | | (c) The Department shall give priority to businesses with |
| 18 | | fewer than 10 employees and businesses located in economically |
| 19 | | distressed areas of the State. |
| 20 | | (d) The Department may adopt rules necessary to implement |
| 21 | | this Section. |
| 22 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
