SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
605 ILCS 5/9-133 new

    Amends the Illinois Highway Code. Allows a unit of local government to place a blue reflective pavement marker on any highway, street, or road to mark the location of a fire hydrant or water supply. Prohibits a unit of local government from placing a blue reflective pavement marker on a State highway unless it first obtains an encroachment permit from the Department of Transportation.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by adding
5Section 9-133 as follows:
 
6    (605 ILCS 5/9-133 new)
7    Sec. 9-133. Blue reflective pavement markers. A unit of
8local government may place a blue reflective pavement marker
9on any highway, street, or road to mark the location of a fire
10hydrant or water supply. The blue reflective pavement marker
11shall not be used for any other purpose. A unit of local
12government shall not place a blue reflective pavement marker
13on a State highway unless it first obtains an encroachment
14permit from the Department.
15    This Section does not apply to freeways or freeway ramps.
