SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
3Assembly pays honor and respect to truly great individuals who
4have served our country and, in doing so, have made the
5ultimate sacrifice for our nation; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sergeant Timothy D. Sayne, the son of Mary
7"Kathy" Even Sayne and Robert Sayne, was born in Henderson,
8Kentucky on November 28, 1979; he graduated from Effingham
9High School; he married Thania Agustin in Reno, Nevada on
10October 17, 2009; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Sgt. Sayne began serving in the United States
12Army in 2008; he was stationed in Alaska, and he was assigned
13to B Troop, 5-1 Calvary, 1/25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team
14(SBCT), 25th Infantry Division; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Sgt. Sayne was killed in action during an
16insurgent attack in Shah Wali Kot, Kandahar Province,
17Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom on September 18,
182011; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Sgt. Sayne was the father of Timothy Kalvin and
20the brother of Cory (Jamie) Sayne, Joey (Desiree) Sayne, and
21Paige (George) Huntington; and

1    WHEREAS, Sgt. Sayne was known as a devoted father who was
2proud to serve his country; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF
5REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the
6Fayette Avenue Interstates 57 and 70 Overpass in Effingham as
7the "Sgt. Timothy Sayne Memorial Overpass"; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
9is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
10State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
11giving notice of the name "Sgt. Timothy Sayne Memorial
12Overpass"; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Sgt. Sayne and the Secretary of the
15Illinois Department of Transportation.
