SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Officer Gerald S. Schneider of the
4Sherman Police Department, who passed away on January 5, 2025;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Officer Schneider, the son of Gerald and Rebecca
7(Kelly) Schneider, was born in Springfield on December 16,
81977; he married Sally "Sarah" Seitz at Good Shepherd Lutheran
9Church in Sherman on October 13, 2012; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Officer Schneider dedicated his career to serving
11and protecting his community as a sergeant with the Illinois
12Secretary of State Police Capitol Division and as a longtime
13officer of the Sherman Police Department; his commitment to
14public service earned him the respect and admiration of his
15colleagues and community members alike; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Officer Schneider enjoyed horseback riding and
17going to the beach, and he dearly loved spending time with his
18family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Officer Schneider was cherished for his
20unwavering dedication, his sense of humor, and his love for
21his family; and

1    WHEREAS, Officer Schneider was preceded in death by his
2brother, Phil, and his paternal and maternal grandparents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Officer Schneider is survived by his wife; his
4daughter, Kaylie; his son, Beau; his sisters, Jessica (Cory)
5Formea and Dixie (Jake) Hill; his parents; and several nieces
6and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Officer Gerald S. Schneider of the Sherman Police Department
10and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and
11all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Officer Schneider as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
