SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James Michael "Jim" Udesen, who passed away on February 17, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Jim Udesen was born to Rosalind 'Rusty' Daum in Elgin on August 7, 1981 and was raised by his grandparents, John and Joanne Udesen; he was also very close to his uncles, Russell "Earl" Udesen and Charles "Chuck" Udesen who played a big part in his childhood years; and

WHEREAS, Jim Udesen served with the McHenry Sheriff's Department for over 21 years; and

WHEREAS, Jim Udesen impacted the lives of many through coaching baseball, serving not only as a coach but as a mentor and role model; many of his players carried his lessons long after the final inning was played; and

WHEREAS, Jim Udesen was affectionately know as "Jimmy", "Udesen", or "Ude"; he had a deep bond with his siblings and built an extended family out of friends and the community around him; and

WHEREAS, Jim Udesen had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued; he was as loyal as he was fierce, and his heart had room for everyone; and

WHEREAS, Jim Udesen's laughter was legendary; his humor, warmth, and boundless energy made every moment spent with him unforgettable; he will be especially remembered for the joy he brought to the world; and

WHEREAS, Jim Udesen is survived by his wife, Dawn; his children, Hailey Stokes and Tyler Udesen; his siblings; and many nieces and nephews and countless friends and colleagues; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James Michael "Jim" Udesen and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Udesen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
