SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald Edward "Don" Beetler of Altona, who passed away on March 10, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Don Beetler was born to Fred Beetler and Louise Learned Beetler in Glasford on May 9, 1927; he was raised in Yates City and graduated from Elmwood High School; he served in the Guard Company Headquarters and Battalion, 7th Service Regiment, First Marine Division of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1945 to 1946, where he was stationed in Tientsin, now Tianjin, China; he married Mary Frances Brown at Ontario Congregational Church in Oneida on June 26, 1949, and they were married for 67 years until she preceded him in death in 2017; and

WHEREAS, Don Beetler worked for Caterpillar, Inc. and Auto Sales Company in Brimfield before farming near Victoria, Oneida, and Altona for 45 years; and

WHEREAS, Don Beetler was quietly generous and very hardworking; he will be remembered for his sense of humor and his strong love for and devotion to his family; and

WHEREAS, Don Beetler was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Harold, Robert, and J. Holland Beetler; his sisters, Rena Beetler, Ruth Broadfield, and Lois Mayer; one great-granddaughter; and his daughter-in-law, Deborah Beetler; and

WHEREAS, Don Beetler is survived by his children, Dianne Beetler, Linda (LaMar) Bell, David Beetler, and Kathleen (Henry) Gondeck; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Barbara (Fred) Woldarski; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald Edward "Don" Beetler and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Don Beetler as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
